Work At Home Blog Income-Feb 2009

blog income reportAfter seeing many other blogs post their monthly blog income stats, I’ve decided to do this too on this home business blog for 2 reasons. Firstly if you want to make money blogging, you really need a way to keep track of how your blog is performing in terms of income generation. Only then can you focus on specific areas that need more attention and changes so that you ultimately achieve consistent blog income growth.

Secondly, it goes well with this blog’s mission which is sharing with others whatever changes, tweaks I have done or will do to increase my blog income. It may help some people in some small ways and fashion in their blog monetization efforts. It’s also giving this blog a more focused direction as it is growing steadily in terms of traffic and income.
google top 10
Blog Statistics:

• 167 RSS Readers
• 3188 Visits
• 6,945 Pageviews
• Technorati Rank: 37,135
• Technorati Auth: 118
• Alexa: 80763
• Inbound links: 13,071

Traffic from search engines amounts to 43% while referring sites and blogs contributed 34% and 23% come from direct traffic. I guess I’m quite pleased with the search engine traffic and it shows that my seo work on this blog is starting to take effect. I haven’t done any study to determine what is a good ratio among these 3 components of statistics. But I did check up one reputable blog of Caroline-Middlebrook just for comparison and she had hers as 45:29:26 for Feb month. So I guess I’m not too bad for now.

Blog Income:

• Private Advertising: $12
• Affiliate Marketing: $30
• Text Link Ads: $16.72
• Backlinks Ads: $12.00
• Squidoo: $1.02
• Links Transaction: $90.00
• eBooks: $47.00

Total Revenue: $208.74

Private Advertising and text link ads continue to generate my blog income and I hope it continues. I’d like to thank everyone who may have purchased advertising or contributed to my blog income one way or another.

My immediate focus is to increase my affiliate commission and I found an alternative to Google Adsense for this blog towards the end of February. It looks like a very good affiliate program to increase my blog income with.

How much money did you make off your blog in February?

• That's really good Peter. I've been a member of Text Link Ads for awhile now but they still haven't made me any money yet. I wrote to them about it and they wrote back saying they didn't realize my blog was a PR3 and that they made some adjustments and it would make a difference, but still nothing.

Sires last blog post..WassupBlog’s February Stats
• @Sire: Yes I guess PR will make a difference. Actually for TLA if you build your downline you could make some decent money with affiliate commission. But Backlinks dot com pay more for affiliate commission.

Peter
• Yeah I wrote to them too and they didn't seem very willing to answer your queries. Not much confidence in TLA at the moment..
• I do prefer InLinks TLA did not accept my blog some months ago, and now that I have PR3 I havent contact them, now I dont care.
• @Marketing Business Review: I haven't had much luck with Inlinks TLA. It could be the keywords I used were not the right ones or I don't have too many of them on my posts. I may have to relook this later.

• Those are some good figures you got out there . Best of luck with your site , hope the figures go up !

• @clickktdotcom: Thanks for your kind words. Hope you have good earnings too this month.

Peter
• Hmm Peter which part of this blog do you host your backlinks?

By the way, congrats on your earnings! Its really quite an achievement there and continue ya? I believe it will just keep growing..

• Make Money Online: Thanks Ben for the kind words, but actually I've lots to learn from you on making money blogging. You're the undisputed king among us. I've seen your report....you could make this on 1 or 2 days. Want to be my "shi-fu"? Hey I don't know what you meant by hosting my backlinks on my blog.
****
Peter
• Aww Please don't say that Peter! In no place to be your shi fu at all lol. I am not far away from you either... Looking at JC and Shoemoney. We have a long way to go man...

I mean you have sold some links through whylink right? Where are they placed? If its good, I might just try it..

Ben
• @Make Money Online: Ben, it's not whylink (Backlink dot com) someone was interested in my main homepage and wanted to purchase a text link. I get quite a no. of these requests through email. They either come via this blog or the main website. Most prefer the main website because the link is supposedly better quality compared to blog link even though my blog is PR3 too.

As for whylink(backlink dot com), I've never got a long term purchase, usually monthly and they renew if they like. But the affiliate program is very good. You earn 25.00 dlrs whenever your downline earns the first 5.00 dlrs. Better than TLA.

• @clickktdotcom: That's not too bad, but have you received any $25 affiliate commission from your downline?

Peter
• i think that $208.74 its a huge money for me peter.geezz, i want to try affiliate system so i can make more money.thank you for sharing this

Peter
• Can you clarify for me what is links transaction? Because that seemed to be your biggest income generator.

Thanks,
Brian P
• @Earn Money Online: It's a sale of a text link to someone for one year.
****
Peter
• Hi Peter,

Did that sale were personal? I mean with OIO. Or which company allow you to make such a good sale?

Congratulations, I did not tracked down my income very well. You are right, I need to do it if I want to know If I am getting some improvement.
• @Marketing Business Review: No not OIO, someone was interested in my main homepage and wanted to purchase a text link. I get quite a no. of these requests through email. They either come via this blog or the main website. Most prefer the main website link because the link is supposedly better quality compared to blog link even though my blog is PR3 too.

• Hi Peter,

Is this the only blog you have earning money for you or do you have others? Have you thought about creating targeted niche sites that could generate higher affiliate incomes?

Internet Strategists last blog post..REVIEW: Mastering Google Analytics - Contents of Their FREE eCourse
• @Internet Strategist: Yes this is the only blog making money for me. Yes I definitely agree with you niche blogging is much more profitable and it should be my next goal. But at the moment with my day job I don't have the time to spare for this. Perhaps in the near future.
****
Peter
• I didn't even made a a single cent because my blog is just new.
• @Paul U: Yes a new blog takes a bit of time to nurture. Try to put as much contents as possible. From my experience, I start to see some decent organic traffic only when I got lots of posts on my blog. Also each post must be carefully optimized. Thanks for the visit.
****
Peter
• @Peter: Yeah. Why do you know I make $25 from affiliate commission ?

clickktdotcoms last blog post..Make Money Online With Hyip
• Hi Peter,

I haven't made any money from blogging, but I am getting inquries for jobs on web design. I am pleased with the networking process.

Although my blog hasn't got any adverts it is a great marketing tool.
• @James: That's usually a start to a lot of good things to come. Keep them coming James.

• Thanks Peter,

As the World is recession, it is best time to just market and blog your skills and blogging. Educate your potential clients and hopefully when the recovery returns people will have more money.
• Hi nice post, i read your blog from time to time but i was wondering something. I also run a blog on a similar topic, but i get alot of spam comments and emails every day. does that happen to you.. Any ideas to stop it? I hate to check every comment i get. Thanks!
• @moneyblogger:I get lots of spam comments and spam emails. But Akismet takes care of the spam comments. I check only the first 2 spam pages daily as there are usually a few hundreds a day. There's noway for me to check all spam comments.

• nice post, it is nice to see that you are having some success, i'm sure it'll keep expanding as long as you keep up the hard work you've done so far.
• Peter
thanks for the information on your blog this is my first time here although I have seen your name around. I too am promoting an affiliate program but I think im going about it wrong on my blog. Its a very good program different from most because you dont have to compete in the same places being its a gaming business. I use a blogger blog and im thinking I should learn word press as it seems most affiliate bloggers use it. My blog has been up for a couple months but I have quite a few backlinks. Would it not be wise in your oppinion to stop promoting that blog and start a new word press? Thanks

Sports Gamess last blog post..Make Money From Home Playing And Selling Online Sports Games
• @Sports Games: Your question is similar to the one below on whether to change from blogger to WP and I've answered so you can read what I've mentioned. If it's me I'll use WP from now so that you don't miss out on so much power WP blog can give you. Depending on how much contents already on your blogger, you can decide if you'll like to export all to WP (assuming you decide WP is what you want from now). Or keep blogger then start a new WP blog. Then use your blogger for link building purposes. There's so many ways to do it. Just revisit all your posts and start linking to your new WP blog. Well you have to decide carefully which way is the best way. Hope to see you around here. Keep in touch.

• Peter thanks for the information here. I too am promoting an affiliate program but Im not sure if I am going about it the right way on my blog. I currently use blogger but I have noticed the more popular blog to be wordpress. Do you think it not be adviseable to switch everything over to a new wordpress? My current blog is about 3 months old but I have quite a few backlinks but no comments. So Im not doing something correct. Anyway your oppinion is appreciated. Thank you

Brads last blog post..Make Money From Home Playing And Selling Online Sports Games
• @Brad:I started off with blogger but since changing to Wordpress have never looked back. To me Wordpress is so much better as the plugins alone will convince many others too on this difference, although there are many bloggers who still swear by Blogger. You may migrate from Blogger to WP i.e export everything, but it can be tricky. You may lose whatever PR you may have on blogger, if you have. I've no experience with exporting from Blogger to WP but I know it can be done. You just need to find out what are the benefits vs the possible harm in the transition before you decide to do it.

• Way to go, Peter, and welcome to the "tell your stats" world. Nicely done; you beat me, though I still feel pretty good about my month. This one's starting out very slow, though.

Mitchs last blog post..SEO Is Easier With Websites Than Blogs
• @Mitch: Yeah my friend, quite a no. of our friends are doing it. It's a good way to motivate myself by trying to beat the others. I like the idea of beating everyone who's done this. Get the hint?:)

Peter
• Not a bad month Peter!! I haven't made much yet... $6 so far from ad-sense lol. But I'm starting to get emails now about direct advertising, so we'll see how March/April fair for me. What are your goals for March?

Hip Hop Musics last blog post..Raekwon - Letter To B.I.G.
• @Hip Hop Music: Well at least you have earnings from adsense. I don't even have adsense on my blog as I got the ban from Google long ago but they never did explain why though. Just saying that my account pose a threat to other surfers. What B.S. Anythway I left it at that. At least I have other alternatives such as Clickbank PROads.
• I guess people do make some money blogging, but I can't imagine the amount of time it must take? And what are the expenses?
• @marblehost:For me it's a lot of time invested but I don't have much expenses only on the odd ones when I come across something I really need. I don't buy anything on impulse.
• Just to give you a tip... It isn't wise to mention that your blog makes money via TLA or any other sell-links program. You can get caught by Google and your blog won't carry any link juice any more. This can result in lower income from these activities.

I don't sell links myself, but I wouldn't tell others that I do so if I were you :) .

Jan the fishs last blog post..Poecilia reticulata
• @Jan the fish: Thanks. You're right. I did think about this and I may have to change the names soon.
• You made 208$ last month. That is good earning.
• When I compare the traffic stats, I believe I have similar stats like you. But I am not converting it into money. Anyways that is not my goal :).
• If you don't mind, can you please share what is average time a visitors stay at your website.
• Hi Peter,

That is awesome news, pleased your doing so well.
• @James: It's really nothing to gloat about actually. But it's a start I guess. Keeps me going.
• Nice Article. Thanks Help me much. Nice to meet your blog peter..
• i have two blogs. one talking about seo and webmasters and the other one is a general blog which has categories from automobiles to webmasters and from current affairs to sports. how can i monetize on these blogs?

Syed Tahas last blog post..Outsourcing web content to a professional writer
• @Syed Taha: My advice to you is build lots of backlinks first and put lots of contents on your blogs. You'll get more organic search engine traffic. Don't think about making money first as this is a more important step. Check out my post The Easiest Way To Get Backlinks Starts Here
