My Experiment To Monetize Adsense Treasure

If you’ve read my recent post on “How To Start Making Money With Adsense” you may have seen a banner I displayed called “Adsense Treasure“.  Well I just started a little experiment to monetize my Adsense Treasure website with five Wordpress Blogs.

The reason why I’m focusing on adsense is that I found it a little intriguing how one can learn how to make money from adsense in more ways than you can imagine. My adsense account is very new and my first full month adsense earnings amount to only $20. I know it’s not much to shout about but that kinda makes me even more determined to focus more effort on adsense. That gave birth to My Adsense Treasure Experiment.

How I found Adsense Treasure

Like you I received tons of junk emails often with the subject like “Make $40,000 a month on adsense” and I’ll quickly delete them without even reading. But one mail I found in my spam folder somehow caught my attention. It talked about this guy called Abid showing off all the money he has made from adsense - his car, his home, etc - but with his face blurred out (for obvious reason) and he promises to give you this same system that makes him $40,000 a month.

Abid sells this system for only $20…. I thought, “What the heck?” and I purchased it just to see what’s this “adsense system” all about.

In a nutshell, it’s a search portal. Adsense Treasure is a simple set up.

It contains just a few sections (Main search homepage, pages on car tips, computer tips, finance tips, shopping tips, travel tips) and it comes with 1600 articles. Sounds terrific? Not quite.

Now the articles are about 4 years old and to me not so well written. I did a quick search in Google and found over 25,000 copies of one of the finance articles. So I made a no brainer decision not to use all these articles. I’ll probably be one among the thousands of similar websites and duplicate content to faceoff good old Mr. G.

That’s not all, all these thousands of pages in Adsense Treasure are in html. It would be a nightmare to convert them to .php. I’m not too technically inclined but even if so, wouldn’t even think of going near there.

The Transformation Begins….

1. I bought a new domain for this “adsense treasure” website

2. I kept the static homepage, redesigned it a little but created 5 sub-domains (it’s free!, just go to the control panel to do this). Remember, Google gives sub-domains the same consideration as a base domain for an authority on  a topic rather than just a directory. For example name.domain.net has better authority than www.domain/name

3. In all my 5 wordpress blogs, I kept to the same blog theme. I selected one of those monetize for adsense themes (http://www.doshdosh.com/16-adsense-optimized-wordpress-themes-to-maximize-your-contextual-ad-earnings/)

4. I signed up with BlogProfitz. They are only taking in 1000 members and it costs about $19 a month and here is what it does - you give it your Wordpress log in and it will post 1-5 times a day per category you choose either products, articles or RSS feeds. Your blogs’ content grows steadily and it looks natural with a balance of both your affiliate products and relevant articles. The content is new and also spun to be unique to your website. Hence the reason only 1000 members.

Nearly every post on my 5 wordpress blogs links to an affiliate program so all the blogs are all geared up for monetization. I had originally set out to create just a mini site, but it is possibly turning into something better. Blogprofitz allows me to join affiliate programs like Commission Junction, Clickbank, Amazon and sign-up only once. I just create “rules” in Blogprofitz to bring “Content Club” posts, affiliate products I’ve chosen to land on my 5 blogs. All specifically to the blog categories I previously set up. I’ve not come across any site that offers something so easy to do to achieve so much than this.

5. I put a signature line on all my articles in these blogs. It helps to add backlinks especially when they get scraped by people ( and they will on the RSS feeds as people are grabbing niche contents everywhere). Your site will also be seen as the authority site not theirs.

6. I opened a new Twitter account and put a feed through twitterfeed.com (it’s free). When my posts get published automatically by Blogprofitz, they go to all my 5 twitter feeds I had created.  I am getting about 15 new followers daily because there are many people in these same niches. I like to think all this helps to give my main website more authority.

7. I created a site map using a WP plugin ( link below) and posted it in my Google Webmaster account to get the site indexed. All the plugins with their links are outlined below.

The Maintenance of the Adsense Treasure Experiment Blogs

My main purpose of setting this Adsense Treasure website is to experiment creating a “set it and forget it” site. I think in any website, the most time is usually spent in trying to keep your site or blog updated regularly. If you take away this task, there isn’t much maintenance is there? Everday I just login to make sure all the new posts come in and get published on my blogs and into the specific post categories I had selected. You could also go to Google Trends to find out what people are searching for and create new categories and affiliate links and bring in new posts from Blogprofitz. It can’t get any simpler than this.

The cost to set it up

A copy of Abid’s Adsense Treasure (one time Cost - $20)
Membership at BlogProfitz ($19 per month)
Wordpress (free)
Twitter (free)
Twitterfeed.com (free)
Wordpress Plugins Used

Add Sig - you should put a signature on all of your posts so that when people scrape your site for content (and they will) your signature and backlink will identify and give your site authority and not where it’s posted.

Google Site Map open a Google Webmaster account and create your sitemap in there! This way you can see which of your pages on your site have been indexed and if there any any errors or other issues -this helps create a high quality page for Google and other search engines so that you eventually get good organic search engine traffic quickly.

Sociable Use this puts links to social sites on all your posts and help make it easy for people to share information from your site.

Affiliate Programs Used

Some affiliate programs used in BlogProfitz include the following:

Clickbank
Linkshare
NCSReporting
Amazon
Clickbooth
Commission Junction
WidgetBucks

For obvious reasons, I don’t have the blog URL listed here but if you’d like to see the set up - just send me an email or use the contact form on this blog and I’d be happy to share the link with you.

  • Hi Peter,

Thanks for sharing your experiences and strategies. I really learned a lot from you. I also wonder how there are few bloggers who receive great amount of adsense checks. With your information, I am obliged to optimize my adsense too.
  • @ viclogic: Thanks for dropping by on a Sunday.Well it just means there is money to be made in adsense right? So I guess we just have to find all the right ways to do this :)
  • I think there is many such so called "Adsense King" out there who is trying to sell you pre-made article, but that were actually published in somewhere else. Anyway, Peter it's good for you to find out a new way to make money. Don't forget to keep us updated your Adsense Treasure journey okay? :)

    Regards,
    Lee
  • @ Make Money At Home:Sure Lee, will keep you guys updated.
  • I'm not a big Adsense fan myself (I don't run it on my blog) but I know some people make some money with it, the business model it requires doesn't fit me so I don't spend too much time looking for more myself.

Anyway, it'll be interesting indeed to see from Peter how it goes, because I feel personally that most of the people who claim to make money from Adsense make that money from the people who pay to learn from them rather than from their ads themselves.
  • @ Nicolas Prudhon: Yes I guess that's one way to make some money too but I've also seen people making money from adsense alone. To these people it seems to be a numbers game like either increasing the no of blogs with high CPC keywords or the amount of content. How they go about getting it done can be interesting. I think more and more people are trying to beat the system which may sometimes hurt them. I prefer to experiment one thing at a time and see which one is good to practice.
  • I'm always incredibly skeptical about these kinds of deals. It seems unrealistic to me to be pulling in $40,000 every month from just using adsense... but I'm very keen to hear how you get on with this system, it certainly sounds intriguing!
  • @Home-Work-Newbie: Yes me too but I'm not using his system. Apart from the homepage, everything else I had used is different including not using his 1600 articles.
  • Hi Peter,

Last night I decided I'd give this AdSense Treasure thing a go so I followed your link at the bottom of the post, purchased the files and now I've got a question: It tells me I can pay 35$ for hosting and they can set the whole thing up and secure an AdSense ID. I actually have my own hosting so I was wondering if I upload the files as they are and submit them to Google for review, will they be accepted?

    Thanks,
    Ed
  • @ Home-Work-Newbie:Hi Ed, first of all thanks for purchasing through my link. If you already have hosting you don't need this option to pay $35 for hosting and his service to get your adsense ID. Unless you are interested in getting an adsense ID created through his help (I read that he uses a temporary site to apply for adsense ID for his clients. I don't know how good this service is as I've never tried it. If you load the 1600 files as they are I think you will have duplicate content with many others who have gone the same route. I did mention it in my post. That's why I totally removed all his articles and uses Blogprofitz to get my articles. I figured since they restrict members to only 1000 and spun the articles, that's a better option. Of course you then have to pay $19 a month to Blogprofits. But I managed to get them to agree to let me put 5 blogs instead of 3 allowable for the trial membership ($19 per mth) so I'm happy with that. Let me send you my website url so that you can take a look at my 5 blog's url. Then you get an idea of how the articles and products are being sent to my blogs.
  • Seems great! Peter, so you're getting articles from Blogprofitz with only $19 a month right? how many article did you get from there a day?
Peter, mind to send your blogs' URL for me to take a look?

Thanks Peter for sharing the ideas.

    Regards,
    Lee
  • @ Make Money At Home: Hi Lee, how many articles I get from Blogprofitz solely depends on how many I want. It's my choice :) Of course they restrict you to a max of 500 per day because there are some people who have a lot of blogs and they are willing to pay more subscription (e.g $49 for 10 blogs). But I only have just 5 blogs so that's not a problem. Besides they still agree to charge me the same $19 (trial member $19 for 3 blogs). For example on the first day each of my 5 blogs I created just 2 blog categories and I go to Blogprofitz to upload 5 posts per day per category as well as 3-5 affiliate products per day from Amazon, CJ, Clickbank. Blogprofitz lets me select the keyword I want so it's very targeted to my blog. The idea is to increase your blog content growth as naturally as possible.Everyday I just checked that all the new posts are getting published and they are. So far it's very smooth. I just sent you my homepage url. When you take a look at my 5 blogs, you will know what I mean.
  • Hi Peter,

So do you think that having duplicate content would mean that Google would deny my AdSense application?

    Ed
  • @ Home-Work-Newbie: No Ed, I don't think Google will deny your application. Google will approve it as long as you have a legitimate blog and a good no. of posts. I was referring to you having to compete with many others who have bought the system from him and used the 1600 articles "as is". Just remember that these articles are about 4 years old so it'll be a challenge for you to add fresh content on the site. Plus they are in html. If you do so, you probably should try to differentiate your site from others. Make your Headers on your index pages unique - Similarly for your Meta tags. If you keep them like they are, you may get into trouble with Google as I presume many others did not change theirs too.
  • Ok that makes sense. I can totally understand why you went with Blogprofitz now.

If I do decide to stay with the 1600 prewritten articles, that would require an enormous amount of work changing every single set of meta tags and what-not :(

I guess it would make ranking in the search results pretty difficult too, having so much duplicate content.

By the way, thanks for sending the link, your site looks great, keep us posted with the progress of it!

    Best,
    Ed
  • @ Home-Work-Newbie: Yes sure I'll share with all how it goes and hope you'll let us know how yours is doing too.
  • I will do Peter, thanks for all your help :)

    Ed
  • According to me successful persons do no do any different work rather they do every work in a different way and you are one of them.
  • @ Lax transportation: Thanks for saying nice words. Well it's still at the moment an experiment. But I guess if I never try, I'll never know.
  • Peter, you must be genious. Just very valuable post, all details for us. Thank you very much. Especially I like your strategic style of which this example: " Do It And Forget It". That is the idea to make money and to save energy.
  • @cycler: Glad you liked it. I figured we are doing so many things in so short a time, we ought to think of doing a few of such "set it and forget it" ones every now and then.

Hey what happened, did you not put any url? I don't see any link on your comment?
  • Peter,

any results from this campaign so far?

    Regards

    Juhani
    http://www.way2miracle.com/ways-to-make-money-o...
  • @cycler: Hi Juhani, At the moment the sitemaps of the 5 blogs show that not all of the urls have been completely indexed by Google. At the moment only 1 blog is showing consistent traffic of about 10-12 visits daily (even without fully indexed) so I'm creating a few more categories on the blogs and using Blogprofitz to bring in more contents. This week I'm doing some link building on them too, now that fresh contents wise it's quite an automated process.
  • I cant wait to see more updates on this. Looks like a great plan.
  • An interesting post to read. I have received many of those emails about that particular adsense portal business. Your experiment in redesigning the business appears to be a successful venture for you. Your post is detailed, outlining all the steps to be completed if someone wanted to test this experiment for themselves. KUDOS!
  • Interesting experiment, Peter. If it starts generating bigger money, would you ever think about putting it here? Not the posts, per se, but the Adsense Traffic program itself?
  • createmoney
hi, i just purchased the adsense treasure and i am having difficulty in putting it in my website. can you please help me? thanks
  • @createmoney:It's best to purchase a new domain. I thought my post describes this very clearly....
  • Basically there are two adsense treasure system, one by carson rathi and another by Abid. Abid has copied the whole website of Carson Rathi including product.
  • Arshu
