Hi Peter,
A great post from Balkhis about changing domain name. It was one thing I always declared I would never do but this post makes it sound achievable. There is only one issue I am not sure about. I understand the strategy about redirecting my old domain to my new domain name but I was under the impression that most directories do not allow redirected domain names. Would this be a disadvantage for directories your site is already submitted and accepted to?

@DavDave’s Affiliate Marketing e’s Affiliate Marketing: Dave that’s a very interesting question and honestly I don’t have the answer. Perhaps that’s because like you I’ve never thought much about changing domain.
You could pose this question at his blog.

Great set of resources, the google trends and SEO Book keyword tools are very useful. Not 100% convinced about moving a website url without loosing search engine ranking and traffic, although there are some excellent suggestions for damage limitation if its something you are going to do.

@Khaled: Hi Khaled, thanks for dropping by. Glad you found the resources useful. I quite agree with your reservations about changing domain too. But I guess, this is more like minimizing whatever disadvantages this will have for you.

Hey Peter. Whenever I post a comment, it doesn’t really show up. Some blogs will have it show up and have note saying “comment pending moderation” on the side. Is that also the case with your blog, but it only becomes visible to the public after you’ve approved it?
November 21, 2008 at 9:59 am
@liweng: I think the more important thing is that your comment gets through when you post. You know it’s successful when you either see the words “comment pending moderation” or it loads back the same page you were on even without this text.
