How “Work From Home Ideas” Made Google Top 10

It does pay to check up what’s the latest Keyword Search Tools as last night when I did, found that my keywords Work From Home Ideas made it to Google Top 10.

Google has launched a new keyword research tool intended for Adwords research, to find more PPC keywords. But you can also use this tool to find relevant keywords for your website pages, blogs and blog post titles.

Making to Google Top 10 for any of your keywords you are ranking may seem like an achievement for some, a relief for others, but for the serious marketer the reality is that you need many many keywords to rank just as well if you want to be really successful in your work from home business. But let’s take a brief moment to rationalize what this means and sharing with you what I have recently done which may have helped:

My link building strategy works

I re-SEO my website

• I had my page title changed. SEO is a long term process so don’t be afraid to make drastic changes once in a while if you know it’s the right thing to do.

Keyword in my anchor text

• Most of my published articles and blog posts contain work from home ideas or variations.
• Target as many keywords as you can but they must be found within your web page.
• all my Squidoo lenses have this keyword. If you change your keywords, do remember to update your lenses.

I learned How To Get Free Backlinks Easily

• I added snippets of my favorite posts and published in Blogger using same anchor text. Avoid any duplicate content while doing so.

Find Out Who Links To Your Competitors

Having Work From Home Ideas made it to Google Top 10, is only the first step, although it does take time and effort. But maintaining your position or improving it is the bigger challenge I now have to face. How about sharing your experience on how you did it and was it as difficult too?

• Way to go, Peter, and man, it certainly looks like it took a lot of effort to get there. I don't have a catchy niche title like that to highlight, which probably explains why I have almost nil Google traffic. But that's okay; guess I'm stuck doing it the old fashioned way.

Mitchs last blog post..A Slave To The Numbers
• @Mitch: Yea, it took me a while to get to page 1 having been stuck at page 2 since July. Actually if you don't mind my saying so, I'm amazed at your energy in writing so much for your blog. Perhaps you can just optimize a couple of keywords or Keyword phrases each time you write. You'd probably get a lot of long tail keywords to your benefit.

• Good on you Peter for getting such a great result. I remember doing all the SEO stuff for my Blogsire blog and the keywords I aimed for was 'blogging the money way', but it was way too time consuming so with my Wassuoblog I'm not really concentrating so much on keywords as I am concentrating on blogging for fun.

Sires last blog post..Plugins Make WordPress So Versatile
• @Sire: Gosh Sire you are fast! Thanks for your kind words. Yes I took some time to get to page 1. But then again I don't pressure myself by setting any time frame too. So I'll take it when it comes I guess.

• Sorry Peter, in what way was I fast? Do you mean in commenting, because you can thank your twitter plugin for that. :)

• @Sire: Oh yes, I keep forgetting about good old Twitter! Now I'm beginning to see the real benefits of installing that plugin. In fact have already seen from my admin panel there are a few hits from my Twitter followers because of this plugin. And I got that plugin through you, thanks mate.

• Now worries, after all what are mates for if not to help each other out?
• Hey Peter,

Excellent stuff on your blog. I love it, I'll be coming
back here again and again ;)

Though the post is short, it shouldn't be underestimated...
it took you a long time to be able to make that claim
of being on page 1 in Google.

Congrats again! I believe more great stuff will be
coming your way.

• @Asher: Yeah, I deliberately made it short for a change. Most readers prefer shorter posts. I guess as long as there are relevant links within it, it's OK.

• It's good! It's short but it's compact with good information.

I don't know if I could do that because I'm such a naggy

• By the way, I'm really digging this comment plugin
of yours. What's this plugin? If possible, could
you email me this plugin?

I'm using Disqus at the moment but it's giving me
some problems PLUS it doesn't let me use CommentLuv

Appreciate it!

• Congratulations on the great result have you considered the keyword "earn work from home" according to wordtracker there isn't much competition but plenty of searched. Nice to see the text readable again as well.
• It sounds like you're really hitting the mark when it comes to SEO, which is awesome. Even thought it takes a lot of work and tracking, it's totally worth it ;)

• Hi Peter,
It's good to see you have more and more backlinks. I haven't try Squidoo, Ebay..yet. I'm still learning so it costs my time to go around to read all informations like this so I don't have much time left to do for my site and blog.

• @Success University Review: Hi Jason, yes having a link building strategy is really a good idea and you won't regret it. We can also help each other too for mutual SEO benefit. We could start off by a homepage link exchange for our respective website. Let me know if you are keen.

Work From Home Ideas
• Well done Peter. I have heard some negative comments about free backlinks from Ebay, that Google does not value them highly. What are your thoughts on that?

Dave
• @Dave's Affiliate Marketing:
I think if you don't abuse and put too many links, it should be OK. I ran a check on ebay policy and this is what I found:
You may include links to your About Me page in your listings. However, you may not include language within those links that promotes items or other Web sites.
eBay allows only a few links from a listing page because the primary purpose of the listing page is to describe the item for sale. The About Me page is a permitted link because it lets others in the eBay community learn more about the seller, helping the buyer to make a more informed decision prior to purchase.
-Peter

• One of the challenges with SEO is checking your own rank for various keywords. I mean, who wants to scroll through ten pages of Google search results for untold numbers of keywords. I know SEO Moz has a rank checker tool but it's only free for five checks per day. Now I wish Google would provide something like that as well, but it's unlikely to happen since they don't really cater to the SEO crowd.

Melissa Donovans last blog post..The Top 5 Blogging Essentials
• @Melissa Donovan: Well hopefully Google can provide this tool in the near future. That would be a very useful tool to have.
-Peter

• Peter - Very inspiring when this happens. I am starting to rank in the top ten for several of my keywords. I practice a lot of the same things you do?

Have you thought about starting a second blog similar to this niche? That way you can link to each other and possibly be in the top 10 on the same term :)
• @Ed Hardy: It's funny that you should ask this. I just thought of this last night about starting another WP blog but with more focus on specific keywords. It would be more for link building kind of blog.
Good to hear that your KWs are doing well.

• Great job, Peter. I'm experimenting with the use of RSS feeds to parse my latest articles from my main blog into blogger at the moment. I'm yet to verify its effectiveness but still they are counted as backlinks.

I'm still a big proponent of blog commenting though.

• Hey Peter,

It is very inspiring to see that you made it to the top 10, especially for such a good keyword phrase.

I am still fighting to get on page 1 of Google with my home page, but I am getting close.

I am esentially using similar starategies to you. My biggest obstacle is that I work full time, so I can only spend about 20 hours per week on internet stuff.

It is those last few Google pages that seem to be the most difficult to climb through.

• I did just make a drastic change because I ranked on the top page of google for "Online Business Reviews" it went from the first to the second page. But that really was not a big traffic generator. So I figured that is not the way to go. So I am trying a new one.
