Why do some legitimate home internet business owners who understand that building quality backlinks is the most important thing you can do to increase website traffic, yet failed in their business?
This is the first of a series of posts sharing link building strategies used by successful internet marketers that will help us achieve our ultimate goal – top seach engine ranking. If you are new to my blog, it may be a good idea to subscribe to it so that you don’t miss out on the following posts as they may not be written consecutively. All right then, it’s good that we got the introduction out of the way so let’s get started….
Well to answer the first question, I think most if not all serious marketers really know they have to build quality backlinks to their legitimate home internet business but it’s the process of implementing these required actions that they often failed to get it right. These are the people who are already working tirelessly in building a great business, so can you imagine what it could be if they got their link building strategy right? Yes phenomenal traffic!
Lack of Good Content
You may have gotten tired of hearing the phrase “content is king” over and over again. But in this and my subsequent link building posts, you’ll probably hear even more of it but will appreciate its importance a little more. Lack of good content seems common for some bloggers or other webmasters but especially so when this happens on pages that are accessed from the home page. Bad content is used to describe a similar content to another site or page. Good content is two or more paragraphs stating new ideas. Great content is when you have very few outbound links. One of the best SEO tips that I can share with you is create new and relevant content which gives your readers a reason to visit your site. You do want repeat visitors to your site, don’t you?
Deep Linking is Good Linking
[tag-tec]Deep Links[/tag-tec] are those that go directly to a site’s internal pages and are quite different from your normal generic links. They specifically relate to user’s goals and objective in business and therefore enhances usability, which can double your sales on average. Your best home business websites should really practice deep linking and follow the most important guideline to support its users which is:
Tell users their arrival point, and how they can proceed to other pages of the site by including these three design elements on every single page:
- Your website name e.g. Best Home Business Ideas|Opportunities
- Direct, one-click link to your homepage
- Search box
Always remember that your reader may land at your inside pages first and putting this useful information is essential to keeping him in your website and then the home page.
To exclude any internal page from search engine deep linking simply include the following meta-tag code in the HEAD part of the page:
META NAME=”robots” CONTENT=”noindex”> although this should not happen too often.
Use Link Cluster to Increase Ranking
A link cluster is nothing more than a group of links, which help to improve the credibility of a specific web page. It is a simple yet effective way to get a better Google ranking for a web page. Google likes this kind of link structure and so it also rewards such internal pages with a higher page rank. This is really no secret and was first documented by 2 college students who eventually became the co-founders of Google. There names: ‘[tag-tec]Larry Page[/tag-tec] and [tag-tec]Sergey Brin[/tag-tec] and here is the report they wrote some 10 years ago in case you want to read it when you are taking that break from too much link building:
Here is a simple analogy I can use. Take a look at the two red guys in the image below. The gray people on the right are followers of the red guy. The left guy apparently does not have any followers. Now isn’t it obvious if both were giving you advice which one would you turn to for advice? It’s the same thinking when you are providing what you feel is your best home business ideas to your affiliate members, your readers, your business associates and just about anyone who buys your product or service you promote. Google has used a simplistic offline reasoning to apply to its algorithm of ranking pages.
Here is proof that by using link cluster, Google has rewarded me with a higher page rank. Take a look at this post, “Blogging Secrets|5 Blogging Tips To Get You Unstoppable Traffic” which I wrote in Feb 2008 and and viewed by Google as an internal page. This page has been accorded a page rank 3, simply because I had my deep links structure well in place. I had one [tag-tec]deep link[/tag-tec] within the body, six trackback links including one from external source and six other comments from other bloggers. This also shows that a link within the contents of you page has more value than one on the footer like your comments section. For enhanced effectiveness, you can also ask your friends, other bloggers, business partners to link to your internal pages. It’s the same reasoning that people are willing to purchase a blog review. You may also have noticed that I did not use too many keywords in this example post. Find out why I do this and more about what keywords, keyword phrases and more importantly how many to use. I think that deeplinks are indeed the key to better rankings. Whereas most links achieved from link exchanges and links buying will always point to the homepage of a website, the genuine links (like trackbacks) will point straight to the relevant page. A site having only links to the homepage would therefor not be deemed as valuable as a site with links pointing to every page.
Deeplinking is a good thing to work on.

It is also good for search engine optimization which also helps to improve the volume and quality of natural or organic traffic to your website from search engines. A site having only links to the homepage would therefor not be deemed as valuable as a site with links pointing to every page.

Thanks for the information on SEO link building. I took a look at your page your recommended page and instead of a PR 3 it is gray barred. This happens occasionally as Google makes updates. It also suggests that your inbound links were from less than strong sources. That might be a good topic for another article.

Very useful, thanks! Well a good example of the excellent Deep Link Execution is this blog. It has a very useful content and Peter very often refers to some older page or pages in his posts. To get on page one, It’s not a big deal, but depends very much on the competition for that keyword. For example if your keywords, are highly searched by people, the competition for that keywords is huge.

So now I take two post which I fully onpage optimized for those keyword and trying to build link, so will it be benefit for me to get rank that two posts on those keywords or what other strategy I have to own?

You can rank your homepage or internal pages using your usual link building like blog commenting just point your link to them. In fact that is recommended as most people just try to link to the homepage.
