Watch Me Get To Google Top 10 Ranking

Did you know that getting to Google top 10 ranking can significantly increase traffic to your site? And since Google accounts for more than 65% of all search traffic, each time you improve Google search engine ranking to page 1 position, that is bringing more than 50% of total traffic for your niche.(In my last post I mentioned I saw a 47% increase for my home page)

So how to increase traffic to your site?

Just get more keyword phrases to Google’s page 1 :-) . You could write lots of content on your blog targeting these keywords and after some time and if you are lucky you may have a number of your keywords on page one. But if you’ve read my recent post “Link Building: Taking Backlink Building To A Higher Level” I found a faster way of doing just that. I do lots of backlink building to increase search engine ranking using Angela Edwards’ Backlink Building program. In this post I shared how I attained page 1 rank for 2 keyword phrases: online business opportunities and online business ideas.

Another Experiment to Get Google Top 10 Ranking For Another Keyword Phrase

Because of my recent good results and since I am now continuously doing backlink building using this technique, I have selected another keyword phrase “home business ideas” to put to the test. This keyword is currently on Google’s page 2, 15th position. I’ve been ranking on this keyword for at least 2 years and nothing I did using all other means could improve this position. In fact at times it moved to page 3. Will I be able to get it to an improved search engine ranking i.e. Page 1? Well the answer lies in the backlink building I’m going to do and the 25 PR6-PR9 links (possibly 50 links) that I’ll be using to try to achieve that.

This experiment is somewhat different from the last one in that I have yet to achieve any improved results during post publication. So you get to see it for yourself the SERP movement, the Google dancing right before you if you like to follow the progress. Hopefully it ends on a high!

Once this post is published I will commence my backlink building work as I’ve just purchased a new packet from Angela. I will be documenting the results regularly so do stay in touch with the progress update. One thing I learned is that during the backlink building the ‘Google Dance’ comes into play, meaning my position starts to fluctuate quite a bit. In my last keyword ranking the position completely disappeared for 2 days before reappearing on page 1 and have stayed there since.

  • @ mobile karen: There is no magic number. It depends on what keyword you are ranking for, your competitors and the strength of competition. I've taken from as little as 5 links to 60 links to get to page 1 for various keywords.

    I am currently using Paul's packets, as well as Pete's Bruteforce Linking software. So far my site seems to be stagnant on page 2/3. It did, however, reach #2 momentarily (a few hours) about 3 weeks ago for a VERY competitive and highly-lucrative keyword. Unfortunately, that happened in the middle of the night, when none of my potential customers would have seen my site.

    I will just continue with the link-building.
  • @dishnetwok: Thanks for sharing. Yes I've heard of Paul's. I think it just means we all have to constantly and consistently do link building. Perhaps that's why Angela's subscription makes sense and at very affordable price too. Backlink building is going to be a long term affair.

  • When I looked at my Google Analytics and saw the keywords, which brought around 20 % of my traffic from search engines, I found out that I have to be ranked inside the top 3 - 5. That raised one question: does anybody here have information about how much the #1, #2 and #3 gets from the traffic of that particular search term.
    By the way, thanks Peter, that you have this discussion going on here, this is really useful.

  • Great to see your ranking is climbing up right now with this competitive keyword, I've just done all the sites in August packet, my rank is dropping to page 2 and soon to page 3, I've not seen any improvement yet. I hope it will only climb but not drop to page 3 in the end. I will update you guys if there is any improvement, says rank higher than before. :)

  • @ Lee Ka Hoong: Accordingly to Angela that's normal and it's a phenomenon called the Google Dance. It has happened to me too and it takes a few days to settle down.
  • Hmm I hope it's normal and I hope to see the ranking back to normal or increase, my ranking drops to 4th page from 2nd page right now..

  • @ Lee Ka Hoong: If it's gone to 4th page just after you started your back linking, it's the Google dance and it's normal, but from my experience it shouldn't take longer than 5 days to see it come back to normal again. Usually when this happens I put in more links. BTW my very first KW online business opportunities is now on page 1 #2 and it now has at least 50 links.
  • Oh I see, I don't know how many days after I've added the links as I just came back from my convocation. But I'll wait for few days to see the improvement, it's in 5th page right now.

    Congrats Peter as your link building is successful. You should get tons of traffics by sitting in #2 with the hot keyword. :)

  • Haha when I reach your stage, then I wouldn't be able to do this too. I still have to further my study for another 3 years to get my Degree, full time working, so I'll be more and more busy with my career, I have very little time online this few days.
