Google Adsense Account-Don’t Get Banned

If you have a Google Adsense Account and run your own site like your personal blog or website, take the next 5 minutes to protect your account.

For some bloggers, Google Adsense contributes a major part of their online income; for others making money with adsense is the only income having focused only on MFA (made for adsense) adsense ready sites. If you belong to this category of bloggers and Internet Marketers have you posted Google Adsense Privacy Policy on your website or blog?

If you haven’t heard, Google Adsense in March implemented a new policy in their Terms of Service stating that all websites with Google adsense or are a Adsense Publisher of any sort you must now post a privacy policy on your website. This policy requires that “publishers must notify their users of the use of cookies and/or web beacons to collect data in the ad serving process”.

If for some reasons you have not done so, I would say you must do it NOW before it’s too late. Who knows if Google has already started random checking websites or if it can hunt down uncomplying Adsense accounts. Google is after all the ultimate law and technically it can shut you down if you don’t have this privacy promise.

How do you go about doing this? Here is a privacy policy generator to help you get one within minutes so you not only have a professional privacy policy that you can instantly add to your website, it gives you ease of mind knowing you’re compliant. One tip though – please make sure you put it as ‘nofollow’ to avoid the problem of duplicate content.

Don’t get banned from Google Adsense – Don’t do this….

1. Avoid doing any tricks to fool Google like joining link farms or link directories as they generate fake traffic. Believe me, Google is smarter than you think. It could even get you into more trouble with Google besides your adsense ban. For this reason, it may be a good idea not to outsource any link building work to other marketers.

2.Do daily routine check on your adsense ads statistics, but not just to find out how much money you made :-) Check for any abnormal activity like hundreds of clicks if your usual daily CTR is say 10. If this happens, immediately send an email to Google Adsense support.

3. Google Adsense disallows your advertisements to be placed with any content related to adult, racism or depicting violence.

4. Remove Bad Comments or spammy ones immediately – if the comment includes a website link that you don’t feel comfortable or one that contravenes Google Adsense’s content guidelines. I know sometimes it may be hard to tell so use your best judgment or gut feel.

5. Avoid Traffic Exchange – Google Adsense has said it does not recommend using traffic exchange services. They bring in fake traffic to your site and this leads to invalid clicks or impressions that result in your account being disabled.

What if You Got The Google Adsense Ban?

If your Google AdSense account gets banned due to invalid activity, you should immediately send an appeal to Google using this form.

Share other “don’ts” by giving your comment to avoid getting banned from Google Adsense from your personal experiences or what you have learned. Over to you….

@ suzie_100: Personally I think there is no way Google will remove a ban once it has taken place. But as far as I know, YOU cannot have more than one account under YOUR name IP address, address etc. You get the picture?

Ahh got it, thanks for the clarification, people need to be very wary of this as there are probably lots of people totally unaware and could innocently fall foul of it. Scary isn't it.

Thanks Peter, I had the privacy policy on my site, but not yet on my blog, which is brand new. Concerning traffic exchanges, which G does not love, how is it with the reciprocal links?

    Reply

  7. peterlee Says:

@ JuhaniTontti: Hi Juhani, I think reciprocal link exchanges should be fine. Google does not like traffic exchanges because you get a lot of untargetted traffic visiting your site just because people want to accumulate points. I think Google classify that as false traffic.

  8. ijstyles Says:

That's right Peter, there is a lot of chance to get fraud clicks from traffic exchanges because you aren't getting any unique traffic and Google doesn't like that. People from such traffic exchange sites might also abuse your ads by clicking frequently.

@ ijstyles: HI IJ, yes I think for newbies, it's very easy to fall victim to this especially some of them initially will do lots of traffic exchange. So I guess reading Google Adsense TOS is so very important.

I've been hearing of people getting their accounts turned off and when asked it they had a privacy policy they would answer “no” but I don't know for sure if that's the reason but I know that it's a good idea to have one. It also help with quality score if doing ppc.

  12. peterlee Says:

Yes, I you certainly can have it on as many sites as Adsense will allow. Just make sure that each blog is a legitimate blog and does not contain contents that Google doesn't approve – mentioned in my post.

  13. peterlee Says:

@ Las Vegas SEO: I think most people would know the reason. They could just read the TOS and see which of these rules they did not comply with. In the event that they really don't know they could check with Google Adsense support but then again, don't expect much help 'cos they may not answer your questions.

Sound advice as usual Peter. Point 4 is actually quite worrying. Suppose you were away from your blog for a few days and a spam post to say an adult site got through Akismet and ended up being posted, would Google really cancel your AdSense account for a comment? Have you ever had anything like this happen?

    Regards,

    Ed

  17. peterlee Says:

@ Home-Work-Newbie: That's an interesting thought Ed. I don't think when this happens, you'll get banned immediately as Google doesn't have a way to check all instances of non compliances. What you can do is when you found out, just delete the comment and send a mail to Google Adsense Support to advise them, just so that you have a record on file that you did so, just to play it safe.

    Hi Peter,

Excellent tips. This is becoming a popular issue these days. My question would be, if you appeal their decision to ban your account, is there any chance that they will reinstate you? Do you know of anyone that has had their account reinstated after being banned? That would be interesting to know.

BTW, now that you're using Adsense again, how has it been going for you?

    Take Care,

    Alan

It sounds like slowly google is extending its rules and regulations that apply to Adwords to Adsense and SEO as well.

Privacy and Contact Us was a requirement for Adwords site long time back – Now they are asking Privacy for Adsense sites as well.

But to be fair to google it is not wrong to ask for one. They just want genuine sites in their search results.

I just ran a split test on Adsense. I wanted to see if running Adsense on a page would cut down on my click thrus to an e-book I am running. Running Adsense did in fact cut my click thrus tp my e-book by 50%. This was on a wedding e-commerce site I own. I don't consider the little money that Adsense pays to be worth loosing out on monetizing through other better products.

Do you think if all major Adwords accounts moved to yahoo, msn or bing then google would change its policies :)

I know its not happening – there just isnt enough traffic on those sites. I guess they deserve to rule. We have to follow their rules.

Google Ad Sense Message Boards Fraud
Google Ad Sense is when a web site owner opens an account with Google to place advertisement on their web site. When a person clicks this advertisement, the web site owner gets an average commission of .45 cents. A web site that gets a lot of traffic, they can easily make $150,000 per month.
There are message boards claiming to be informing the public about scams being done by companies or individuals. These web sites have individuals working for them for the sole purpose of targeting companies or individuals in order to generate traffic to the web site. This method is artificially generating traffic to the web site, this is FRAUD as outlined by Google. The higher the traffic, the higher the percentage of individuals that will click onto the Google advertisements.
Additionally, Individuals post copy right information about a company on these types of web sites; this is against the policy of the Google Ad Sense program.
If you believe that you are being targeted by individuals on a particular web site; simply click the Ads by Google in the bottom right hand corner of the advertisement on the web site. You will be taken to a Google page, click onto: Report a policy violation regarding the site or ads you just saw.
File a report and the Google Fraud Department will investigate.
