Commenluv is interesting, and I have difficulties understanding why not everyone is using it. If you have a good “product” then more people will go and use you comment section, which in turn will create lots more traffic.

Creating back links from commenting is a great tool. The best way to find these are to go an use googles operator for example: In the google search box enter the following: intext:”powered by wordpress” AND “KeywordLuv” OR “CommentLuv” this will pull out all blogs that provide the plugin and to filter out non blogs we incorporate the “powered by wordpress”

@Michael Erik: Hi Michael: Oh that's not a WP plugin. It's Scratchback developed by Jim Kukral and is an online “tipping” system. It allows you, the blogger, to accept tips and “give back” links* or images* in return on your blog or website. Eg when people tip $5 on my blog they get to put their website url or anything they promote. But the links are no-follow.

Thanks for the useful post, and debate in the comments. There are pros and cons to KeywordLuv and CommentLuv. For me, CommentLuv has a slight advantage as it provides a deep-link to a blog post, as well as a general link to the homepage. Assuming you have keywords in your post-titles, you get the best of both.
