Why Create A Home Internet Business?

home internet business

The idea of creating a home internet business is appealing to many. More and more people every day are thinking of the possibilities of setting up their online business to gain financial freedom. Before we continue let me emphasize that an online business is not an overnight success, you need to work hard in the beginning and you will be working many hours unpaid. There are some pros and cons for a home business. However, the rewards can be fantastic if you persist through the hard times. Having a passion for your home internet business is vitally important.

This article is written by James King, a professional multimedia designer who runs atmmultimedia.com. He specializes in the field of website promotion, marketing, SEO Tips, and helps website owners and bloggers maxmise their online presence on the Internet.

Create a Home Internet Business?- What they didn’t teach you at school

At school, we were never taught how to be self sufficient. Throughout our education we were being prepared to enter the workforce with the vast majority of society. In essence, we are the backbones of society, working long hard hours for someone else, just to survive and cover the bills. Since our time at school we were programmed to work hard for someone else, work hard, pay taxes, let the government waste our hard earned money and more. There are some perks of being an employee including: sick pay, guaranteed income, holiday pay maybe a bonus at the end of year.

Job Security is a myth

One of the biggest myths, that I hear being thrown around all the time is Job Security. How secure are people’s jobs? Look at the current climate. Nothing is secure and if you believe your job is secure until retirement then you are a fool. If there is no work, then people need to be laid off.

Work hard for yourself

Working for someone else, also means you are paying more tax. Do you think your boss is paying tax? Well, the government will give your employer tax breaks for creating jobs. That tax money gets paid by the employee. A pension this may be seen as a valuable asset by some, but when you retire the government will tax your pension or 401K at the highest rate. Not really fair for someone else that has worked 40+ years to enjoy the later years of their lives.

Create a home internet business and give yourself a promotion

Promotions may be seen as another way to gain money, but as you climb up the corporate ladder, you have to take on more responsibilities to allow for that pay increase. At school, we were taught work hard, get a regular paying job and save for the future. That is not always possible, with inflation increasing, petrol going through the roof and the cost of living rising. Working for someone else, it is not smart for the long term. Long term you should be creating your own multiple income streams and one day fire your boss.

Build a home internet business to be in control of your dreams

Being an employee makes you become a victim that you have no control over. You are dictated by the money you can earn, you have to work harder just to keep your job, you may have to take work home with you just to please your boss and maybe even change your holidays to suit them. An employee can be victimized, because in many ways, if you are a work horse an employer will place more and more work on you, because your boss knows you can handle it. Plus do you get paid more for the work you do? An employee’s wages are fixed rate, you may be doing some of the most advanced work and take on more tasks maybe not even in your job description for the same wage. This is one of the main reasons I am setting up my own blog, because I feel undervalued for the skills and talent I’ve got. Why should you study hard and work hard for someone else and make your boss wealthy?

A home internet business is about flexibility and lifestyle design

One of the biggest rewards of setting up your own internet home business is freedom. The flexibility of working when it suits, life shouldn’t be about suiting the needs of your boss. It should be about enjoyment doing the things that make you happy, however, if you enjoy your job that’s fine. Make sure, you make every effort to get as much out of life as you can. If you work for someone and work real hard and someone in your office does nothing and gets away with it is that fair? Believe me, it happens a lot. Usually the lazy workers get thought of a lot more than the hard working people.

Plan your own home internet business today

I hope that has got you fired up and realize that working as an employee isn’t the best way to make money. If you’re in a full time job there is no problem with that, but if you what to make an internet home business, you can in your spare time, there is nothing stopping you. If you want to be successful and financially free, you need to start working on your own projects. These can be done as part time projects where you devote several hours or whatever you can to it. It is not wise to place all your eggs in one basket. Look at some of the most successful people on the planet, an example Sir Richard Branson, the owner of Virgin. He started by creating his own record store and has diversified into other ventures such as: flights, holidays, limo hire, off in a lifetime experiences and even a brand of cola. Work smarter not harder. Start creating your own assets, which helps you become rich. If you have a full time job that should cover your living costs. Start creating assets to build wealth. Creating an online business is going to take time, effort and energy, however, this will be time well spent. In this blog, Peter has a wealth of information and ideas to help you create a home internet business, including: over 200 passive income resources and tips on affiliate marketing.

Look after number one

One more lesson that I’d like to share with you: look after number one and that’s you. Don’t expect anyone to support you, not your boss, not the government and not awaiting an inheritance. The reason you must look after number one, because nobody else will. You’re in control of your own destiny regardless of what others think. If you want to become successful and wealthy you got to make it happen. Study for success. Wishing you the best of luck in your home internet business ventures. • Can I expand on your fantastic post?

    Why create in internet business?

Well to add to what you said I would say that with the next great depression ahead of us we must find a way to get some additional sources of income and I think that creating websites with great content and adding adsense ads is an excellent way to do that.

I am doing it and I am half-way to make a full-time income from adsense.

I just wanted to share that...
  • Congratulations Don, I am way ahead of you. But I will reach my goal and make a living working from home.
  • Full time income from Adsense? Thats kind of amazing!
  • That's excellent news. I am pleased for you.
  • Adsense is tough to do, you must have a high traffic website. Do you do advertising for other bloggers?
  • Hi Don,

How are you? I am going to suggest a great book called "Rich Dad, Poor Dad", or even check out the podcasts, it talks about the importance of cashflow.

How the rich create assets and how the poor focus on liabilities. In my opinion, a job is the biggest liability going, because it costs you so much money. Meaning that you have to pay for transport, taxes, suits that you only wear to work.

So creating some assets is great.

Start with blogging, it is an easy platform, generate some great content, guest post on other blogs. (Thanks once again Peter for having me).

Wow, half your income through adsense, you are so far more ahead that me, well done.

    All the best.
  • I agree with what you said! No one should rely 100% on their day job.

  • Hi Internet Marketing Service,

Thanks for stopping by and reading the post. I don't like working for someone else, cause I am not in control.
  • Right now relying 100% in a job it is the most insecure thing to do, with the recession and all.
  • Hi James,

I agree with you I am in the online biz because of Kiyosaki, I love his books, he have change my mindset, now I want what you explain in your post, I no longer think a job it is secure I prefer to be my own boss.

  • Hi Marketing Business Review,

Totally agree, my dad was a business owner and he said you should do web design for yourself. Rather than for someone else.

Robert Kiyosaki, is spot on with his diagrams of the cashflow quadrant.
  • I believe in that now. But my entire family are employees, so my behavior were the one as an employee too. But no more.
  • My father was a business owner, my uncle owns several businesses and my brother is self empployed and I plan to follow their footsteps. They have a great attitude to their own success.

  • Yeah given the situation out there.. Its really scary sometimes.
  • I just hope we learn from this global recession and never let it happen again.

People need to be taught about the importance of money and how to use it.
  • I couldn't agree more. I think work hard is the best key to successful.
    Thank Peter!

clickktdotcoms last blog post..Interview With Peter Lee
  • Working hard only on the right things is importnat. So do it for you, so go for it. I've got this book called "Leave the bastards behind", this was about a man, who worked hard and was bullied in this work. So he decided to go solo.

I see a full-time as a poor way to make a living. Some people see my views and others don't. But if you want to slave away for some company, so be it. I ain't gonna be an employee til 65.
  • Hi Peter,

Once again thanks for the opportunity for allowing me to guest post on your blog.

  • Hi Best CSS Gallery,

    You're welcome. Thanks for reading.
  • Good one James. It can't feel any better when you're your own boss and you do what you tell yourself. ONLY

  • Hi,

I can't wait, in so-called the wonderful of employment, you'll meet loads of characters from the suck ups, the egotists, the know it alls, to be honest I am fed up of it all. Not a fan office politics, I hate it with passion.

I don't care about others views in the workplace, it's not going to help me. The people are at top usually dictate their views if they are good or bad. This can affect the company poor management is not fun.

So this, blog post comes from the heart.

  • I still in my full time job and I can fully understand you. I can´t wait for the day I fire my boss.
  • Yes, during this period of recession no job appears to be secure.
  • I am in the UK and we've got a recession, the US has a recession, most of the globe is in recession. But in the UK the recession is not as bad as in other countries.

My point is this, if you can diversify your income you're going to be in a stronger position.
  • Yes thats the only way to more or less keep safe your income.
  • great post, i think this could help anyone who is thinking of starting a business online to make up their minds. following these easy steps could be a great start to a new endeavor.
  • Hi there,

You've got to start to small in order to be successful, but you'll get there.

    Best of luck.
  • This post is nothing but the truth. A lot of beginners in the home internet business think that it is easy. They hear people making thousands of dollars, but they don't know the long story behind it. There is no job security ever because people will get laid-off and there is no guaranteed that the person will not get laid-off.

  • Hi James,

Great article for anyone who is thinking of starting a business online. It is also a great motivation for those already in online businesses. This post kinda remind you why you are in this in the first place which for many I guess will be as how James put it "to be in control of your dreams"

  • Hi Salwa,

Indeed, it is about freedom and being in control. Nobody likes being told what to do, how to do to things. I prefer being in control and be free.

Thanks for your comments on the post.
  • I have a lot of work to do, shit! There's still time.............Thx for the insights.......

  • Hi,

You've made a start so you're ahead of a lot of people. You'll get there, never give up.
  • Great post! I think it's often a matter of risk v. reward. Some people are willing to gamble for the long-term freedom of being their own boss. Some are comfortable working for someone else who has set up benefits such as insurance and a steady client base.

With the economic situation being unsteady at best, now is a great time to start if you're considering taking the leap to work from home. There are more opportunities than ever to create your own success, but there's also more competition. Of course most entrepreneurs won't be an overnight success, but if you're willing to put in the effort, there are great rewards out there!
  • Totally agree with you. The US President agrees there will be no quick fixes. Start small, I checked my blog I've done over 70 posts and 6 or 7 guest posts and things are started to move now. So give it 6 months to a year before expecting any signs of success. Just keep at it.
  • Great post! When I first looked at starting a business from home, one of the places I visited was VAnetworking, http://www.vanetworking.com. This is the top source for information for anyone looking to become a Virtual Assistant. You can join as a free member and read through the existing threads, plus ask your own specific questions. And the best part of this group is that everyone is extremely helpful. There is no competition issue with virtual assistants. Everyone helps their fellow VA out in a pinch.

    It's a great resource.
  • VA's are a cool idea, to save time and money.

I've heard a lot of people using them, it is the same idea as an being employer, they hire you and pay you.
  • Actually, I have just started home based online business, however, I am little bit upset at the beginning, It is hard to get more business. I have met so many scammers. I was afraid. However, after sometimes, I have met some good dealings and get success. I am happy now.
your post on the topic "Why Create A Home Internet Business?", gives me more ideas to get success, that is great :)
  • Hi,
