You are refering to page rank leakage then. In theory that is true but I think it is not as significant as you mentioned. But if you are that worried, then put a no-follow when you link out. However you may get different results like you may have lesser incoming links but your page rank for that page is protected.

I read what was written and that was so informative for me, however, I still have some doubts that if I for instance link a website which has page rank 3 in my website which has the page rank 4, then as a result my page rank is decreased and another thing is that if I have a link exchange with the sites which have the same page rank as mine does , that its not so effective. Would you please comment on those. Thx

@outtrigger seminyak: You mean if we get links coming from the same niche as we are? Yes that would be ideal but from my experience getting links from higher PR even irrelevant ones are still very good for search engine ranking.

Outlinking some of fear, because bloggers feel there are giving away links to their competition.

But by linking to smaller bloggers, they notice a spike in their traffic, therefore, they are more likely to link back.

i came here in search of answers to something I thought wasn't true. I have experienced that inserting the adsense code into my site has brought me crashing down in the serps and I find that people consider this to be a myth. But i say its true. I guess it is too strong an outbound link which drains link juice and I believe I have to start all over again to get it back. Nice information here which surely helped.Thanks goacoms last blog post..Is bad governance ruining Goa?
