This week I post this one question interview to 4 of my blogger friends what they would do if they could start their blog all over again. This was prompted after I recently read numerous posts on the topic “Are You Giving Up Blogging“. While many of them discussed the reasons such as “it’s too hard”, “you won’t make much money blogging”, ” it needs luck”, ” requires too much long term effort” I suspect many bloggers quit blogging due to very simple reasons. My intent here is to provide some answers to bloggers and hope they help a few would be quitters change their minds.
I would do this…
Firstly I would have a separate domain for my blog instead of a sub directory of my main Plugin-Profit Site. I believe even with a PR3, this has somewhat weakened the site authority than had it been on its own domain. I had to work doubly hard to achieve my current search engine ranking, compared with others and that was a big mistake I made.
Secondly, I would rather not use my name as the domain name. In terms of SEO, it makes better choice if I were to use something else related to my niche. I was just like any other newbie then, with no mentor and not knowing how important this was until it’s a little too late. I guess I was just too eager to start my new website. Well we live to learn.
This is what my friends have to say….
Salwa: I actually have few things that I regret not doing when I started out. First knowing what I know today I would have built an email list right from the start. An email list is the absolute most effective marketing tool available on the Internet today. It provides you with a direct line of communication with your target market, and also enables you to develop a trusting relationship with your subscribers.
Second; I would have balanced my activities more equally between content production and promotion/marketing. And lastly taken things less personally.
Alan Mater: One of the things I would do differently is putting more emphasis into promoting my blog in the early stages. When I first started blogging, I spent a lot of time on the visual appearance of my blog. While the look and feel of a blog is important, I didn’t do enough to get the word out and drive traffic to it. If I had to start over, I would work more on marketing and building backlinks to my blog. There’s no point in having a nice looking blog with great content if hardly anyone knows about it. Now that my blog is six months old, I’m just now starting to do more about marketing it and getting more traffic. My advice would be to spend just as much time marketing your blog while you’re working on the appearance and creating content for it.
JR: If I could start my blog over I would definitely have picked a different blog theme, one with more than one sidebar, or the option to add another and I would make sure the sidebar was wider than the one I currently have.
Another thing I would do differently is to launch with less posts, when I first started I posted some of my best work all at once, before I had any readers in order to have a deep site for the search engines. In retrospect this was a mistake, I should have waited for the readership to build and then posted gradually.
James King-Select a good web host would be my first choice. I listened to an Internet business podcast back in 2006 and they recommended this hosting company. I purchased some reseller hosting in 2007, where I found the hosting to be very cheap. Where you could easily purchase 2TB of bandwidth for under $200 for the year, at the time I thought it was a bargain. However, as I progressed into creating more WordPress blogs I noticed that my loading times from the databases was getting worse and worse. At one time, I was waiting over one minute to download a page from WordPress and this was the “Hello World” page. The very first page on the your new WordPress blog.
As time progressed, I was suffered with headaches and frustration with the slow loading time from my blog. The customer service was poor and it was getting beyond a joke. The databases were crawling, the customer service was useless and support there wasn’t any. I created atmmultimedia on this reseller hosting server and four weeks later, in the footer there were hidden hyperlinks. My blog had been hacked, I was so angry. I couldn’t even retrieve any of my blog posts as the site was infected. Another lesson to you all bloggers: back up your blog on a regular basis to avoid heartache.
I realised that if atmmultimedia was going to be successful, then I had to transfer to a good reliable host. I live in the UK and I decided to a use a UK host instead. Where if I have any trouble I could easily phone or even visit their office. Heart Internet is the best hosting I’ve ever used, although they cost more than other hosting companies, I would recommend them for their excellent support and after sales support.
Now over to you…tell us what you would have done differently…

Hi Peter, this is a nice post especially for new people. In my own opinion, I agree that you should have a unique domain name for your blog, now depending on whether your promote yourself or the work from home concept with you in the shadow is another matter when it comes to using your name for your domain, especially knowing that Google is putting emphasis on branding now.
I have to agree too with the other suggestions offered here and anybody starting a new blog or intending to do so should not overlook those factors!
April 10, 2009 at 6:14 am
@ Nicolas Prudhon: Thanks for being the first here. You're right there are still many who used their names as their domain names and brand and promote their names before anything else. It also helps if you have a unique name like yours. Perhaps that's why you chose it as your domain name.
I would think the very name that you use to advertise your product is the name that you will want for your domain, because that is the first thing that people will type in their browser. Notwithstanding all SEO work that you will need to do, choosing a good domain name does give you that initial advantage over many others. But most times people may not think it's important especially if he is new and never knew what difference this could make to him. Hopefully this post helps some people.
April 10, 2009 at 7:30 am
I think it definitely demands luck to get back to the normal blogging, especially when you have left it and you're making a comeback.
April 10, 2009 at 7:36 am
@ bathroom shower: You could be right about having some luck to realize you made a mistake in leaving blogging in the first place. But you will need more than luck to continue blogging especially if you intend to stay and be a blog to reckon with.
April 10, 2009 at 10:29 am
Hey Peter,
We all learn from our mistakes. That's just a fact. As long as we use what we learn to better ourselves then we're O.K. I tend to agree with JR and James King a Host is very important but we seem to go with the cheap solution at first and then realize that it's not the best decision. Choosing the right theme also takes time and experience with WordPress. It's one area that I need work on – I'm always afraid of messing things up.
I'm looking for a new Host but don't look forward to moving my files.
April 10, 2009 at 11:10 am
@ Luca Di Nicola: I guess when we were new, keeping our costs low was a top priority, so it's something which we got to learn to live with some of these mistakes. You're right about choosing the right theme. It took me 9 mths to change to a second blog theme, but it's something that needs to be done if you wish to focus on blog branding and monetization. It just got to look attractive!
April 10, 2009 at 11:45 am
Hi Luca,
I agree that cheaper isn't always better. I personally prefer Host Gator as they provide one-click WordPress setup. They're not only cheap but very reliable. I heard Blue Host is good also, but I haven't used them.
April 10, 2009 at 11:52 am
Hey Peter,
I'm with you as I would rather have my blog as my home page, rather than having it as sub directory. I have noticed, though, that if you use similar keywords for both your home page and blog, your blog will rank well in the search engines, assuming your home page is. If your home page pulls a lot of weight and has authority, your sub directories will too, just not as much. This is what I have noticed with my site and blog.
April 10, 2009 at 11:54 am
I have been blogging for 2 years and I would say it is not an easy journey. If I have discovered your blog earlier, I would have made as much money as you do
I have bookmarked your blog and trust me that I will come back for more articles.
Meanwhile, I spend 3 days to come up with a ebook for you to download. It shares with you how can you generate 80 to 100 leads a week for you easily without spending a single cent.

April 10, 2009 at 12:19 pm
@ Work From Home Opportunities: It's the same old issue isn't it Alan, we both have. Obviously search engines love blogs more than our static pages. It's also this reason that prompted us to focus more on our blogs when we do blog commenting. You know I have always used my blog as the url for blog commenting and not my homepage because it is non interactive.
April 10, 2009 at 12:24 pm
@ Work From Home Opportunities: You know I only hear good things said about Hostgator and the best thing is it's inexpensive and you can have unlimited domains or additional sites added without any charge. That's really a practical solution as people now are adding numerous blogs especially if they do niche blogging.
April 10, 2009 at 12:36 pm
Hi Luca,
Hosting is vital, if your still unsure about moving your files let me know, and I can help you.
April 10, 2009 at 12:37 pm
@ bloggeroftheweb: Thanks for adding to the conversation. Your ebook sounds good. Thanks for sharing it.
April 10, 2009 at 12:37 pm
I think we would all do something different, with that said it's usually because of something we didn't know then which we do know now. The great thing is I've learned and on my following blogs will be more efficient with them.
April 10, 2009 at 12:41 pm
@ atmmultimedia: James that's very nice of you. I'll have to take it up if I decide to move my account to HG.
April 10, 2009 at 12:48 pm
Hi Alan,
You say that you wish to have drived more traffic in the early stages, it still isn't too late. There are so many options open to you now. I've started using Twitter today, and it is a nice way of communication. If you have some followers you can notify them about your latest blog posts.
I can be found at http://www.twitter.com/atmmultimedia
April 10, 2009 at 12:51 pm
@ TheBloggerSource : Thanks for your comment Michael. Well it may be a practical problem with most newbies. Hopefully there will be some who are wise enough to read up posts like this before getting started.
April 11, 2009 at 7:52 am
I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have done anything differently. The mistakes I have made has taught me valuable lessons and the mistakes I'll make in the future will do the same. But if I have to pick one thing it would be to spend more time on the promotion part as well.
Thanks,
Mikael
April 11, 2009 at 8:40 am
Keeping a blog sleeping for long time spoils it authority and get back regular visitors will be a tough task. You need to start off from zero if you have not posted anything for long time. If you have a email list, you should shoot an email to your loyal readers informing them that you have started posting again, then you will need to make sure that you do not do that again (put your blog to sleep)
April 11, 2009 at 9:02 am
@ Mikael Rieck: Thanks Mikael for dropping in. I've not seen you on this blog so a warm welcome here and to this community. Yes I guess everyone needs to spend a little more time on blog promotion too. Sometimes it's a case of 'too much to do and too little time' syndrome that all of us suffer that may be the cause.
April 11, 2009 at 9:22 am
@ Home Jobs: Yes your blog should always be updated frequently. Even if you are going away, you could write and publish future dated blog posts in your absence. Yeah if all these methods fail you then got to do lots of damage control. We owe it to our subscribers and other readers. Thanks for dropping by. Couldn't visit your blog as it seems not accessible at this time.
April 11, 2009 at 12:25 pm
This is one of the greatest kinds of blog posts. It is from real bloggers with real world experience. I am glad to see I am doing most of the suggestions on the list from the starting line. It just adds more confirmation I am on the right track.
April 11, 2009 at 12:49 pm
@work at home: Hi Drew, I'm glad you liked it and good that you're practicing most of them. That means whoever isn't doing so may find this post helpful. Well it's meant to help people who need this information.
April 11, 2009 at 5:14 pm
Hi Peter,
It's a great blog post, for all beginners.
I am pleased you asked me.
April 11, 2009 at 5:33 pm
I agree with atmmultimedia , this was a great post. As I have been saying since I started visiting this blog last week was to finally come up with a domain name and host instead of using the free hosting platform I have been building my business on. With that said I have researched and figured out which domain name I want and it's available! Now my question to all is which registrar should I choose and which hosting provider should I use since I am so new to this process?
April 11, 2009 at 5:35 pm
Agreed. What's paying a measly $10 – $15 for a new domain when the hosting for all of them will never change? You can't beat it, and the up-time is the best around.
April 11, 2009 at 5:38 pm
For a while I was linking to my home page since I wanted to build backlinks for it. But then I decided to leave that to article marketing. Now, I always link to my blog when commenting and for the reasons you mentioned.
April 11, 2009 at 5:44 pm
You're absolutely right. I'm focusing more on that aspect now. I also use Twitter as well as update my status whenever I make a new blog post. It's great how a lot of social network sites can be updated with feeds, which makes it more powerful when posting to your blog. I have Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr and others all updated when I make a new post.
Hey, I'm following you on Twitter now
April 11, 2009 at 6:09 pm
I stated above that I highly recommend Host Gator. The hosting plans are very cheap, and you can host an unlimited number of domains for the same monthly fee. You can usually find coupon codes for them if you search the net. I have another blog hosted by them, and the one-click WordPress setup is amazing.
April 11, 2009 at 6:11 pm
Peter, it's always the case of too much to do, too little time. That was definitely my case, and it's something I struggle with even now. There's always a lot to do. You just can't avoid it. Time management is something I struggle with.
April 11, 2009 at 6:30 pm
Work From Home Opportunities thanks and I did read your post above. I am trying to get a few answers from people because I have been told since I got online was that I should not register and host through the same company. I have been told to register the domain with Go Daddy and the host through Host Gator. The other day someone in a internet marketing forum told me my best bet would be to register through namecheap.com and host with lunarpage.com and the only reason I didn't do it then is because the links they left were affiliate links. While I have no problem with people making money from a referral I don't trust them without finding out what makes their recommendation a solid choice beyond them earning money. Thanks again.
April 11, 2009 at 9:25 pm
@ atmmultimedia: The pleasure was mine James as you shared your own experiences here for everyone's benefit.
April 11, 2009 at 9:38 pm
@ The Medical Billing Trainer: I would say free hosting platform is good more for link building but because you are so restricted it does not help in any other aspects of your business. If you are looking for a web host, HostGatorseems a very good choice not just from comments here but every other blog that talked about hosting.
April 12, 2009 at 6:53 am
This is a great way to open up discussion about blogging with a new topic..very interesting..
Of course we all have our own shoulda/coulda/wouldas
April 12, 2009 at 7:11 am
@Melody: Yes we all have our should haves, that's why it makes very good reading too. I hope more will share their experiences here. Hey what about you. What would you do differently?
April 12, 2009 at 10:16 am
Thanks to those that answered. From what I gather from the both of you is it is recommended that I register and host through the same company?
April 12, 2009 at 11:23 am
@ The Medical Billing Trainer: Yes Hostgator provides domain registration made available through your web hosting pakage you signed up.
April 13, 2009 at 6:40 am
My apologies I had to miss this out Peter. Life doesn't always go as smoothly as you want to. I will be in for the next one you have ya? Take care and you did well in this!
April 13, 2009 at 6:46 am
By the way, the above 4 bloggers are people whom I recognise and I do enjoy their blogs. Great to have them come together answering the same question. Different people, different thoughts.
April 13, 2009 at 9:29 am
Yup bluehost is almost as good as hostgator.Their customer support is more than excellent.
April 13, 2009 at 10:18 am
@Ben Pei: No worries Ben. I knew you must be busy with other important stuff. Good to see you here that's more important.
April 13, 2009 at 10:25 am
@Ben Pei: Of course you know them too. When Ben gets bigger the blogosphere tends to be smaller than before. LOL
April 13, 2009 at 12:16 pm
I've never heard that you should register a domain and hosting through different companies. I'm not sure what benefit there would be in that. I would rather register both from the same company, but that's just my opinion.
April 13, 2009 at 12:18 pm
That's much appreciated, Ben. I truly enjoy reading your blog as well.
April 13, 2009 at 3:30 pm
Best to have a self hosted version of WordPress, because your in control.
April 13, 2009 at 3:33 pm
Thanks for the compliment Ben,
Myself in May, there will loads of great content from the atmmultimedia blog. In the next coming weeks, there will be some big things happening, that you don't want to miss.
April 13, 2009 at 4:57 pm
I agree as well. You have no control if it's not self-hosted, and WordPress or Blogger both have the option of shutting down your blog if you do something they don't like. It's better to just host it yourself with no worries and full leisure to do what you want.
April 14, 2009 at 1:58 am
Hi Peter,
I have made the same mistake, I used some keywords that are not the ones I really want to target. I didnt used my name but I would prefer to have a domain name with my keywords in it.
Luis
April 14, 2009 at 2:00 am
Yeah Peter, especially when you are new, like me when I chose my domain name. Now I may need to look for an old expired domain with some traffic and better keywords.
Luis
April 14, 2009 at 2:10 am
I have made the same mistake, in the beginning I just use a free hosting solution and after I had some problems when my traffic increased then I needed to change to a paid host anyway. But it was painful to move my site and check all the links its a mess, Its better to choose the best one at the beginning and sick with it as long as you can.
April 14, 2009 at 2:17 am
Peter but I think if your static page it is your main concern then it is wise to open a blog in the same domain name to give some ranking to your static page, since as you have noticed blogs are better for the serps, just as you did, but doing what Alan said using about the same keyword for the domain name and then you cna link from your blog to your static page and from your static page to your blog, is a lot easier than trying to index a static page.
Luis
April 14, 2009 at 2:23 am
Hi Peter,
Thats exactly the move I made with my blog and I didnt knew much at that time. HG people do all the moving for me, actually without thir help I been not able to do the change and even less to fix the broken links. But my site was far more less huge than it is now. Database it is too big now and lots of posts now and i see you have too a lot of stuff to move.
Luis
April 14, 2009 at 2:28 am
I guess Peter that we all including myself if I were commenting and reading before I started I will have a lot more success with my blog already. But anyway never is too late to begin to improve.
April 14, 2009 at 6:46 am
Very interesting indeed – I'm considering starting a blog and this advice is very helpful.
Can I just ask you experienced bloggers out there if the blog engine you use makes a difference for promotion, speed etc. I see that WordPress is pretty popular, but what about more established blog systems like Blogger? Would it be a benefit to start a blog in an already popular blog network like that?
April 14, 2009 at 7:59 am
Hi Peter,
I just installed my first wordpress blog yesterday and am going to start posting.
I wanted to ask you about a strategy I've noticed. I've seen some really prominent blogs get high ranking in the SERPS because they are supported by a small network of 2-3 related blogs all owned by the same person. So each blog passes on backlinks to the others. I thought it was pretty smart –The other blogs are featured in the links column and the more number of posts you make on the first blog, the more number of backlinks the 2 other blogs you own get. (one link for every post made)
Have you seen this strategy employed? Any thoughts to share on it all? Just thought I'd ask–Thanks!!
Jack
April 14, 2009 at 9:55 am
@ atmmultimedia: James. that's wonderful news. Looking to see what you have in store for all of us.
April 14, 2009 at 9:58 am
@ Marketing Business Review: Well Luis, you can have all these things on your next blog. I'm sure now that you have more time, and planning to start a few more blogs, it's going to happen sooner than you think.
April 14, 2009 at 10:02 am
@ Home Work Newbie: If you were to ask 10 persons to vote, I'm pretty sure you will get at least 70 pct in favor of WordPress.Personally I have used both blogger and WP, and I can say WP comes up tops. To me there is no comparison. Having said this, there are still quite a few of my friends who swear by blogger.
April 14, 2009 at 10:09 am
I would have to agree with Peter on that. I also use both Blogger and WordPress, and in terms of rankings and SEO benefits, WordPress comes out on top. I would never recommend Blogger as a primary blogging platform.
April 14, 2009 at 10:10 am
@Jack: This is very common. If you have 10 blogs surely you'll want all your blogs to be linking to each other. Having said that, I heard that it's best that you put those blogs with different IP address. Also if you've read some of my posts, besides blogs, you can use your other sites like Squidoo, Hub pages, ebay pages to link to your blog. It's all about link building strategy. Do read my link building strategy posts series to learn more.
April 14, 2009 at 10:20 am
That's the approach I'm taking on it. Linking the two together will help, and I also think using similar keywords will help, but I can't prove that yet. My home page has a PR 2 with good rankings, and it's helping my blog in the rankings as well as it's also ranking for similar phrases.
Now Peter might be on the other side of the spectrum and trying to get his home page higher. I would recommend linking to your home page from your blog. Work on building backlinks to your home page as your blog is well established now.
I've spent a lot of time building backlinks to my home page and neglecting my blog. I'm not starting to work on building backlinks to my blog.
April 14, 2009 at 10:36 am
@ Work From Home Opportunities: You're right Alan, now my homepage is PR4 after the last PR update. I just realised it yesterday after I checked it. Like you guessed right, I have always been linking to my homepage from my blog, although I suspect if I have a different IP address that would have been better. Anyway, I'm very happy I got a PR4. It just shows that my link building strategy works.
April 14, 2009 at 3:45 pm
Link strategy is very important, especially internal linking. That's what makes blogs so great. Too bad we couldn't have known that sooner. Looks like your strategy is paying off. Hopefully I'll get my blog up there soon.
April 15, 2009 at 2:30 am
I definitely should've started my blog earlier–I put it off for about a solid year and a half, and now the industry is just sooo saturated..
April 15, 2009 at 9:29 am
@Melody: Well take it this way, in that time you may have benefited in other aspects of your business or personal live, and your blog is looking great now. So it still works out great. You're really talented too.
April 15, 2009 at 11:10 am
Thanks Peter. I guess a system like WordPress offers a lot more flexibility – having looked into it a bit further I think that's definitely the way to go. I do wonder how complex a system WordPress is, the documentation on their website makes it seem really simple but you never can tell until you've used it. Given the overwhelming support for WP I think I'll take the plunge!
April 15, 2009 at 1:10 pm
Hi Peter, very good idea for a post.I´m a PIPS member as well and in 2006 when I started I followed all the tips in the 30 days book and now when I look back, there was lots of things I could have done better, for instance getting a WordPress blog right from the start instead of a blogger blog.I would also have saved a lot of money by concentrating on article marketing instead of PPC.
Another thing I sort of regret is that I chose the “online marketing niche” for my blog, I realized later it was too crowded but it was too late to do anything about it because I had worked a lot of to write posts. So, if I would start all over today I would do proper niche research, getting a wordpress blog and a domain name with my best keyword in it.
April 15, 2009 at 1:59 pm
Hi Melody,
I have to agree with Peter. Your blog looks great, and I really don't feel that it's ever too late to get started. The important thing is knowing what you want to do and going after it, and you have. The industry may be saturated, but where there's a will, there's a way, and I'm sure you'll find the way. Keep up the great work.
April 15, 2009 at 7:04 pm
@peterlee & @Work From Home
Thanks guys! Much appreciated..
April 16, 2009 at 2:56 am
hi ..
Really i like this post .it is very informative about blogging.i think,This is a great way to open up discussion about blogging with a new topic. It will be a very interesting way also.
keep it up…
April 16, 2009 at 8:58 am
I've seen 2 people being interviewed on tv who claimed they earn so much from blogging but they didn't elaborate how. I'm quite good doing research, am a CPA and had vast experience in banking work, sales and some consultancy job. Am really interested in blogging which aside from sharing info, could give me some financial rewards. Am willing to receive small renumeration at the start, to progress as the work entailed becomes more complicated.
April 17, 2009 at 12:01 pm
If I could start over again, I would concentrate on niche sites with static pages that sell physical products. I am struggling constantly to update my blogs (http://www.petra-weiss.com, http://www.healthydietweightloss.com) because I have maybe 1 or max 2 hours a day to work on blogging, and most of that time still goes into “absorbing” more than producing myself.
But I have one site which I have converted into a WordPress “blog” which has static pages, is selling physical products and to which I post maybe once every couple of months, and this site is generating me a constant little income stream (last month just over $300 – of course that fluctuates very much). So I am all for setting it up once, working hard on the link building and traffic generation, and then letting it go – simply because of the time factor. Does that make sense?
April 17, 2009 at 12:05 pm
I have had to learn WordPress the hard way, and I have recorded every step in a super easy to follow manual here http://www.affiliatemarketingsos.com – I had so many problems to get it done with the instructions provided to me at the time that I wanted to make sure everybody (even someone non-techie like me!) would be able to follow the process step by step. Just in case you are interested…
April 17, 2009 at 12:41 pm
@ Petra Weiss: You've hit the mark. Niche blogging is the in thing now. Many people have found great successes. I think it would be a waste to let it go. The intent on niche blogging is to have minimum maintenance after you're out of the sandbox. You ultimately want to make it pretty much automated process in the long term. I know of someone who has 40 niche blogs. Some of them, just the adsense alone earns him decent amount of money. Think about it.
April 17, 2009 at 8:53 pm
@Petra Weiss: Thanks for sharing your manual here with other readers who may make use of it. Danke.
April 17, 2009 at 9:21 pm
@ Home Work Newbie: Yes I've used both WP and Blogger and I can say I prefer WP without a second thought. I've never found WP to be complex at all. It's very easy to use.
April 18, 2009 at 4:05 am
Thanks for giving me the thumbs up!
April 18, 2009 at 6:52 pm
I made a lot of mistakes with my first few blogs – but just started up a new one two weeks ago that is already pulling in between 90-250 visitors a day (I've noticed because of the topic being a hobby it does well on weekends) and making me a couple of bucks a day. What did I do differently with that blog? I picked a non competitive topic that's getting a lot of search traffic and optimized it well for keywords.

@ Petra Weiss: You're welcome Petra.

@Loud Mom: That's very interesting. Keyword research is a must if you ask me. Good strategy to use a non competitive keyword. 90-250 visitors for a new blog is just unbelievable. Good job. Hope to see you around.

its a good post because they all had had many interesting views on what they would specifically change but with me although i built it myself i think it looks pretty good and i would never change it as i had a lot of positives along the way

i haven't used wordpress before i have always used blogger.com for the other various activities i do online but why do you prefer wordpress over blogger whats your standpoint? What do you mean you don't find wp complex at all?Just
wondering?

peter i enjoyed what you had to share and the reasons on why you would change your blog but i think that your blog is fine enough their wouldn't be a single thing i would change if your blog was mine you also achieved a lot of positive things as well

Well Peter, looks like my blog commenting is paying off. My blog has went up to a PR 2 during this last update.
Hopefully you'll get your PR back here soon.

@Alan Mater: That good news congrats to you as I can see that you've worked so hard….now you probably have second thoughts about selling it huh. Yeah I wonder if mine will come back…kinda miss the green bar.
June 4, 2009 at 1:16 pm
Yes, I'm very reluctant to sell. I'm looking for advertisers right now to bring in more income each month. Hopefully things will look brighter in the month ahead.
I'm sure you do. Maybe the next update will bring it back.
June 13, 2009 at 8:27 pm
agreed. You don't have to regret since you don't know from the start.
August 15, 2009 at 1:49 pm
I agree with you James, that backing up your blog is very important as I have lost valuable work because I didn't. Thanks for reminding us.

You have rightly said that – “you will need more than luck to continue blogging especially if you intend to stay and be a blog to reckon with”. Nowadays blogging has become more challenging than ever before. A comeback is definitely hard but not impossible.

I am going to download the ebook, lets see what is in store. Hope it delivers something useful . Anyway, thanks for sharing.

I would definitely have started out with paid hosting. Luckily for me, I had only been posting for a few weeks so when I moved my free wordpress blog to a hosted one I did not have much to do. That would be my one piece of advice. If you are going to do it, do it right from the beginning. Don't be cheap, just pay the extra money for the hosting.
January 15, 2010 at 10:09 am
Yes having a good hosting account from day 1 of your business is a must. Many people just are too keen to get started and make some mistakes like this. Glad you found out soon enough.

Really interesting article, enjoyed reading it. I can't really have a say because my blog is only 20 days old. But I now know I have to do and what I have to avoid.
Great Post!

Your idea is good for knowledge sharing because there are so many people who don't know about blogger, they will get more idea about it.

This is a really great way to open up discussion about blogging with a different topic. It is very interesting to put unique content…
