There are several different networks out there that you can sign up for, all you have to do is put in the time to research with ad network will fit your blog niche the best. One of the easiest and most popular programs is Google AdSense. The key to making advertising on your blog work is to increase your traffic – substantial traffic translates into substantial clicks, which translates into substantial earnings.

Write an E-Book

The great thing about e-books is that you only have to write it once, but you can sell it for forever. Find something that you can be an expert about and then take some time to write an informative and helpful e-book that you can market to your blog readers for a fee. You can then let the residual income from the book continue to roll in long after the one-time task of writing it is complete, something that makes that initial time investment completely worth it!

Get involved in an Affiliate Program

By becoming an affiliate for a certain product or store you will allow them to advertise on your website and you will make a certain percentage off of the products they sell from people clicking through your site to theirs. It’s a type of commission based pay where you don’t have to do anything except let their products promote themselves on your website. Make sure that whatever you are endorsing is relevant to your blog niche; otherwise it will seem out of place and probably won’t appeal to your target audience as much.

Utilize Google AdWords

These types of pay-per-click campaigns can be especially beneficial if it’s a product that isn’t being heavily promoted by competitors. One neat aspect of Google AdWords is that you can set it up to promote your product or you can set it up to promote your affiliates product… or both! Setting it up for multiple campaigns is a great way to earn even more money. 

It’s not that hard

Earning Passive Income is not a difficult task, just one that can be somewhat time-consuming when you’re first getting started. This is one of the main reasons why so many people fail at it – they don’t want to put in the time and effort. Like any successful venture though, you have to be willing to do some work to see the results, and once the work is done the end result will be letting money roll in with little to no work on your part. Having a passive income will allow you to pursue your other passions or even just make some extra money while you’re working your full-time job – and who can complain about that! What This Post is Not About

The intention of my post today is not to frighten anyone new in the online business, or to discredit anyone who have had the misfortune of being taken for a ride in this scam. No the purpose of this post is to share some useful lessons to be learned regarding this scam with the hope that by so doing, people can be more prepared to deal with any possible Internet scams.

This is also not a case study and if you need to read up more details, you may follow the warrior forum thread which I will give. However it may well be soon deleted by the forum moderators since the sales page have already been deleted. Possibly to avoid any undue interest on this case and to avoid other scam artists lurking around  to learn how it was pulled off. Yes possibly the greatest scam in Warrior Forum in my time at least.

A Summary of the Scam:

This warrior (member of warrior forum then)  is offering a test drive of any class site for 2 days before you decide to invest in a site. The scam artist decides on the niche, keyword and domain.

To test the site, you need to make a small payment (less than $10) then you will need to complete a form which gives him your Adsense Publisher ID. Thereafter, he will send you the domain for the test so that you can add the channel in your Adsense account to measure the income earned over 2 days.

The scam artist provides an offer to sell his seemingly endless profitable websites on  popular niches targeting Google Adsense. He requires his prospective client to test it out if he likes it and to see how profitable his purchased site is. There is a small admin fee he charges but nobody cares because during the test which is just 2 days, all his clients can see that his new website makes Adsense money like bees stick to honey – between $ 5 -$50 a day.  Yes the stage is set for the next step. The good testimonials are written by each ‘participant’ and most people willingly buy these sites and  agree to whatever requirements he set  to gain more in his scam. The requirements include paying the scam artist a monthly fixed payment besides the cost of the site and domain. In return, he guarantees minimum daily Adsense earnings for the site. His sites are classified into different category of profitability assurance called “classes A-D” and their costs vary accordingly. More profitable sites will cost more.

Some Testimonials (‘Reviews’) Provided By His Customers:

And just like any WSO or Warrior Special Offer, the buyers provide their reviews after getting the positive results. Well here are just a few to give you an idea:

1. ” ….First of all, XXXX is very professional when we make a deal in testing the site.  For the first day and for the first time in my life of Adsense, this is the first time I’ve earned around more than $4USD in one day.

So, when he claims that you can earn around 3 – 5 USd per day, he really delivers it.  And that is probably the minimum… it could get more than that.”

2. “…my review for class D: 1st day $4.96, 2nd day around $5.13 nice job…”

3.  “…$13.82 for 2 days. 9.0% ctr which is quite high, not bad if on average $6 per day. $180 a month. …”

4. “…On Mon, Aug 22, 2011 at 1:47 PM, he plugged my Adsense ID into one of the Class D sites. As of Wed, Aug 24, 2011 at 12:54 PM (47 hours later), his web site has earned me $10.23. (About $5.12/day.)…”

5. “…My review after 2 days test (D class):

First day test: $6.9
second day test: $5.6

This is really great which is why I bought the D class site a few minutes ago. I am going to post updates in a week to tell you how the site grow. I am really happy with the results. …”

How And When Was The Scam Found Out?

Google started banning the Adsense accounts of all the people who bought the scammer sites almost on the same day. The reason being that they determined that there were invalid clicks on these Adsense ads being performed on their website. The duration of the scam: 6 weeks.

Lessons Learned:

1. Traffic from search engines like Google is still the best and the safest to earn the trust from Google. In this scam, traffic was self generated possibly by persons the scam artist hired to work for him to click people’s ads.

2. When something seems too good to be true, it usually is. So you can be your best critique or your worse enemy.

3. If you buy a website from someone, screen through every single page on the website. In this scam, the sites were poorly made with bad contents, few links and the sites were for lack of a better word – ugly!

4. Do not let money or how to make easy money blogging cloud your judgment of any similar situation that may lead to you getting scammed. It’s the clearest signs.

5. A scam can take place anywhere even in the most established place  like Warrior Forum.

6. When you get scammed, most of the time you will not get your money back.  Even paypal rejected any claims with the reply:

“Unfortunately, we are denying your claim because your purchase was for a virtual, digital, or intangible item, which is not covered under PayPal Purchase Protection. We only cover claims involving physical items that can be shipped and tracked.”

7. Losing money in a scam is bad (many bought the high end “class” kind of sites paying out $1500 per site. But losing your Adsense account – unforgivable as it can destroy (for some people) your only means of make money online – through Google Adsense.

8. Always determine the trustworthiness  and credibility of the person in question. In this case  the scam artist claims to be a  professional company in US. However when the scam was exposed it was found that the IP of his emails all traced to Bangladesh.

Many people think because you work at home, you don’t follow any rules. In many cases, family and friends will constantly distract you and expect you to play along. With all these obstacles and distractions, it is hard to stay focused and get things done. However, there are things you can do to make your work at home a bit more like an actual job. Things that will help you get more things done and achieve your business goals. Here are 5 tips to help you do just that:

Plan your work day

Take 10 minutes every morning (or if you prefer do it at the end of the day for the next day)Make a simple daily schedule and note everything that needs to get done that day. That will help you stay online and focused while avoiding distractions.

Go through with it

When it comes to work at home businesses, making a plan isn’t that hard, it only takes a few minutes, sticking with the plan is the hard part. But, if you want to succeed, it is necessary to stick with the plan. Do your best to stick with your daily schedule. However, in some occasions you may find it hard to go with the plan, don’t be so hard on yourself. Give yourself a break here and there. And remember, not everything goes as planned always!

Keep motivating yourself

Motivation is one of the biggest factors when it comes to having a good work day and accomplishing all the daily tasks. And since you work at home, that means, you are the one who has to keep you motivated and going. A simple way to keep yourself motivated is to keep things that are motivating to you, close by, on your desk perhaps. Write down your biggest goal and keep it in your desk where you can look at it every time you feel down. Keep a copy of that book that inspired you to start this business. Anything that you can look at and get motivation from.

Treat it as a real business

Just because you are your own boss and work from home doesn’t mean your work is not important. Your work at home business still is a business and like any other business, it needs to be dealt with as a business and not a hobby.

Set working hours

Working at the comfort of your own home has its benefits and of course its pitfalls. Using those benefits to your advantage and avoiding those pitfalls will be an important part of where or not you succeed in working from home.

Building and maintaining a successful and profitable home business requires a lot of hard work, commitment and a willingness to never give up, but most importantly, it requires a laser like focus. By implementing these tips you can ensure your home business is on the right track to becoming and staying a profitable and successful business you can rely on.

What Was My Mistake On Top Search Engine Ranking?

Well  I was chatting with a good friend of mine online one day, someone who was already earning himself more than 100 dollars a day. I asked him what advice he could give me for a site that is already on Google No. 1 Position? I asked him specifically if I should continue doing link building or should I just ease off, leave it and focus instead on other sites. Juggling Self-employment and Family Demands

There is something incredibly special about being able to work from home. There’s a sense of freedom – a sense of flexibility. At the end of the day, though, those of us who really do work from home know that freedom and flexibility can only occur if our schedules reflect just a little bit of structure. The hardest part about quitting my full-time job to become a full-time freelance writer was helping my friends and family members understand what it really means to work from home. Until that point, the only people I knew who “worked from home” were people who had office jobs and got to telecommute a couple of days per week – an altogether different animal.

Self-employed vs. Unemployed

Not long after I quit my full-time job, the phone calls started rolling in. Can you take your grandmother to the doctors? I need you to stop by the house and let the dog out for me. Do you want to go on a bus trip with us on Thursday? Can you pick your cousin up from school? All of the sudden, I was viewed as “available.” My family and friends didn’t think of me as self-employed. They knew nothing of working from home, looking for private clients, or setting their own schedules. They had a complete lack of regard and respect for my time and my work. They thought I didn’t work. They treated me like I was completely unemployed.

Making People Understand

This is where things get difficult for a lot of people who are self-employed. It doesn’t matter if you’re a writer, a graphic designer, an internet marketer, or in some other sort of business. Your biggest hurdle will involve making those around you understand your need for structure.

What does this mean?

It means not making yourself available to others 24/7. Set “office hours” for yourself and stick to them as much as possible. You obviously own the flexibility to change those hours as you see fit, but you’ll not only provide yourself with a little bit of structure but will help to draw boundaries that others aren’t welcome to cross. It will be a lot harder for your mother to call and ask you to run to the store if you don’t answer personal calls before noon; or if your friends know you are only free to go out to eat on Fridays.

It means learning to say no. It’s a tiny word with a lot of power, and you have the right to use it. Your lack of formal employment in the corporate world does not mean you have the time to run around and do things for others all day long. What many of my own family members and friends did not understand at first was that I no longer have paid vacation time or personal days. I have to plan the days or hours I take off because if I am not working, I will not get paid. Period. End of story.

It means you need to be patient. It is going to take time for those who love you to gain a firm understanding of what you do. Be calm and respectful and explain your new work situation as clearly as you can. Be consistent with your boundaries and with the times you say “no” to certain requests. Before long, those around you will start treating you as they would if you were working a regular 9-5 office job.

As a self-employed professional you have the obligation to put yourself first at all times. Your success – personal and financial – rests on your ability to get your work done daily. There will be an adjustment period and you may feel a bit overwhelmed at times but before long you will have a stable routine you can stray from occasionally if you really need.

I’ve just bought an SEO Plugin called ‘Lazy SEO Rockstar‘ and I really like it so much that I’m going to do a quick review of it and share with you. I like it because it’s focused on onpage and offpage SEO which can relate to just about anyone who has a home business blog, someone who wants to make money online or simply starting out learning how to make money blogging.

What Is This Plugin All About

It’s the first time I see a wordpress plugin provide so much useful information and information that you can use in your daily routine SEO work. Perhaps it was developed with the intention of helping a lazy Internet Marketer and that’s why the name. But I meant lazy in a very good way. All of us are lazy to do all those boring and seemingly unproductive work and much prefer to use the valuable time instead doing something that we can see the rewards quickly. But we don’t always get what we want right? OK, the way this plugin was developed was meant to allow Internet Marketers or anyone who owns at least a site to spend just 10 minutes a day to automate some of our boring SEO tasks like onsite SEO, offsite SEO, backlinking and keyword research.

There are essentially 4 modules supported by this plugin. Module 1 helps you do ‘Long Tail Keyword Research‘, while Modules 2/3 take care of onsite SEO factors (Post LSI and Mass Tagging) and Module 4 focuses on offsite SEO and the much raved about by the many people in the Forum – it provides you EDU/GOV backlinks in seconds.

Module 1- Long Tail Keyword Research

The plugin lets you type in a ‘seed keyword’ and simply clicking a “Go’ button lists an extensive list of long tail keywords for you.  Well take a look at this screenshot and you will understand better with my example seed keyword as ‘make money blogging‘:

My Thoughts:

Long Tail keywords may not generate as much traffic as your main keywords but if you consistently write your contents using long tail keywords the eventual traffic amassed can be huge. Also it’s good for SEO too as such contents help the search engine know what topic you are writing. Personally I think it can be even more effective if you write long posts because you can write lots of different long tail keywords. I wrote about the benefits of writing long posts in this post called “2-Week Old Authority Site Now Gets Constant Traffic“. Having a list of such keywords in seconds makes your writing so much easier don’t you think? It even lets you export it for future use as well.

Module 2 – Post LSI

It has a menu that lists all your blog posts and selecting any can then tell you which keywords have helped your visitors find your particular post after they searched in Google.

My Thoughts

Having this information at your fingertips is great. You can use it for strategic planning and understanding visitor traffic and if your keyword selection is correct. It’s a lot faster since it is found in your blog rather than having to go to Google Webmaster Tools to hunt for it.

Module 3 – Mass Tagger

The mass tagger lets you tag keywords people used to find your blog posts (see module 2) automatically. You either manually tag your posts with these keywords or you can automate the process and let the plugin do it. If you look at this post below just after ‘Did You Miss Any Of These”, you will find the keywords shown as ‘tags’ – these are what keywords visitors have used to search in Google for this post. All done for me automatically.

Module 4 – Gov/EDU Backlinks

Like they say the best is left to the very last and this module is the most talkabout and most powerful. It lets you type your keyword and the plugin then searches for Gov/EDU blogs for you to do your commenting and get those precious backlinks easily. In seconds! It also lists the PR of the blog page so you can select only high page rank blogs to do your commenting.

My Thoughts

No matter what arguments you may have about the usefulness or the power of EDU/GOV links, I have always heard the experienced marketers swear by EDU and GOV links and why they viewed them with so much respect. As much as I am as curious as you, I figured I might as well try to find out what could have contributed to this search ranking phenomenon. I might be able to uncover something interesting just fresh from my last Case Study: What Google Looked For In My Last 5 Posts.

My recent post in question is Try My Cheap Link Building Service published on  Sep 8, 2011. It achieved Google No. 1 Position just 5 days after being published and now hovers between No. 1 and No. 3 spots in Google. Here’s My Thoughts Why It Got No. 1 Top Ranking In Google:

1. I studied all the 10 sites on page 1 for the keyword phrase ‘cheap link building service‘. I found that non of my competitors had the exact permalink as the keyword as I did. Good thing that I had purposely put the blog title as ‘Try My Cheap Link Building Service’ and made the permalink as ‘Cheap Link Building Service’. It’s a powerful SEO I learned from all the ebooks I bought.

2. The blog title must contain the keyword you want to rank. The shorter this keyword the better too as it is more keyword optimized.

3. My homepage displays the keyword phrase “cheap link building service’. Once on the navigation link on the header (no-follow) and the other on the right side bar (do-follow). I wrote about this technique a long time ago.

4. I did not do any extensive link building. Just used my favorite plugin and put the keyword “cheap link building service” as a “backlink” in the plugin admin page so as to display this url across hundreds of blogs. 5. Except for one site having the same domain age, all other sites were much newer. The conclusion I can draw is that the older the domain the better chance you get in achieving top ranking in Google.

6. There were 5 other sites that have higher page rank than my page which just means that page rank is not as important as other factors when you want a top ranking in Google like Google no. 1 position. It just gives you about 20 percent added advantage.

7. It just reaffirms what we already know and that Google still uses exact named domain (keyword) as a critical factor in determining Top Ranking In Google.

Well fast forward to today, in my recent visits to many blogs doing commenting, I could see many other bloggers’ web pages getting at least a PR1. I thought this seems somewhat unusual as such rankings seemed to show up only after an official Google PageRank has taken place.  So I thought I’ll do a quick case study on my own blog posts to see why this is so. Here’s what I found:

Case Study of last 5 Posts:

1. The 5 posts were published on Jul 31, Aug 4, Aug 10, Aug 14 and Aug 21 respectively.

2. Only 1 of the 5 posts had been given a PR1 while all others had PR0.

3. The post with PR1 followed some specific onpage SEO factors suggested by the SEO Jacking WP Plugin while all other 4 posts did not. The SEO onpage factors that I had diligently followed to the T were as follows:

4. No link building work was done on any of these 5 posts nor any promotion of these posts whatsoever.

Case Study Findings

Clearly, you can see how it is so simple to get Google PageRank by following some simple onpage SEO. Now obviously this means that Google places much importance on onpage SEO and its page rank algorithm includes some of these factors.

Final Thoughts

It looks like it is now relatively easy to get a PR1 for any web page and I like to think it’s because of the last Google Panda algorithm changes somehow. But this just helps to remind me to give Google what it wants in terms of onsite SEO.Similar Posts:
