Just because you are your own boss and work from home doesn’t mean your work is not important. Your work at home business still is a business and like any other business, it needs to be dealt with as a business and not a hobby.

Working at the comfort of your own home has its benefits and of course its pitfalls. Using those benefits to your advantage and avoiding those pitfalls will be an important part of where or not you succeed in working from home.

Building and maintaining a successful and profitable home business requires a lot of hard work, commitment and a willingness to never give up, but most importantly, it requires a laser like focus. Well fast forward to today, in my recent visits to many blogs doing commenting, I could see many other bloggers’ web pages getting at least a PR1. I thought this seems somewhat unusual as such rankings seemed to show up only after an official Google PageRank has taken place.  So I thought I’ll do a quick case study on my own blog posts to see why this is so. Here’s what I found:

Case Study of last 5 Posts:

1. The 5 posts were published on Jul 31, Aug 4, Aug 10, Aug 14 and Aug 21 respectively.

2. Only 1 of the 5 posts had been given a PR1 while all others had PR0.

3. The post with PR1 followed some specific onpage SEO factors suggested by the SEO Jacking WP Plugin while all other 4 posts did not. The SEO onpage factors that I had diligently followed to the T were as follows:

4. No link building work was done on any of these 5 posts nor any promotion of these posts whatsoever.

Case Study Findings

Clearly, you can see how it is so simple to get Google PageRank by following some simple onpage SEO. Now obviously this means that Google places much importance on onpage SEO and its page rank algorithm includes some of these factors.

Final Thoughts

It looks like it is now relatively easy to get a PR1 for any web page and I like to think it’s because of the last Google Panda algorithm changes somehow. But this just helps to remind me to give Google what it wants in terms of onsite SEO.Similar Posts:

Today Dec 31, 2010 is definitely a good day as it marked the day I launched my first Authority website. Yep, finally after a month of deliberating and doing some research as to how I should do this, I bought the necessary tools and blueprint, and I have today published my website and 4 “authority” pages.

Part II of my Adsense journey Begins

For those of you who remembered about 15 months ago I started my adsense journey and bought myself the now famous Micro Niche Adsense Course from XFactor as well as XsitePro, a powerful web building software and launched more than 20 niche sites during this time.

Well guess what…looks like history is about to repeat itself. Part II of my adsense journey begins officially today and I’m turning 3 of these niche sites into authority websites as well as adding a brand new health niche authority website. I’m still following XFactor (John)’s method only this time he just released his latest blueprint for ‘Advanced Adsense Publisher Guide to Making More Money With less sites‘. That’s perfect for me as I’ve recently stopped adding more niche sites and a few months ago already had thoughts of making a few of my sites to authority sites. I guessed John must have read my mind.

Why Authority Websites?

I’ll be perfectly honest with you. For a long time I was living under a misconception of what an authority website really is and who is fit to create one. I once thought that only the “big guns” or the more established marketers should be the ones since they already have the “authority tag” accorded to them. Not quite really as I found out recently.

Now I know an authority website need not be another CNN or Yahoo News nor must it be the most beautifully designed site. In short you and I could well launch an authority website within the next 1 week – if we wanted to that is. I’ve experienced some success in building niche sites and now building a few authority sites is just putting that icing on the cake. I called it a natural progression. It’s also called focusing on the long term, creating passive income and generally working towards making more money online only this time using few sites

Some Information about XFactor’s Authority Site Adsense Guide

It would be impossible to give a meaningful review of this advanced adsense blueprint without giving away all his techniques and that would be unethical so I won’t even go near there. So if whatever little information I could share with you may seem somewhat hard to comprehend, please excuse me and you would know why this is so.

It’s a very comprehensive book and John goes into great length to make his 217 pages book so easy to understand. It’s not an extension of his earlier book which I bought 15 months ago; it’s his second book. There are many tips that he gave but to me the most important thing I learned from him was how he makes creating authority websites so simple.He made it look simple because he teaches how to theme our articles as a part of his technique. He uses Web Content Studio to help find all the theme words for any articles we plan to write, articles that Google loves.

If you do not know what “theming an article is”, think LSI and long tail keywords to give you an idea. It’s also about how it will get you lots of traffic even if the keywords are highly competitive. So if you’ve been trained to believe you should only do keyword research and focusing on choosing keywords that have more traffic and less competition, that’s old school and a lot more difficult to do, I might add since everyone does that. With theming, it’s about less traffic as far as all the keyword tools tell you, insane competition but you still get lots of traffic all the same. It sounds a little hard to understand but the ebook will go into every great detail. It’s worth the $39 I paid for (first timer to his course pays $97).

I have just learned the proper way of ”siloing” my sites and that is not only good site structure for easy navigation on your site by your visitors, I’ve learned long ago it’s good for SEO too. Well that’s just a small part of what his Adsense Guilde teaches, the same techniques he uses to now make over $1000 per day.

How I Use Web Content Studio To Write Articles For My Authority Sites

This strategy is simple yet very powerful. When I first read about it, naturally I was simply amazed at this technique. I was hoping I could save some money not buying the tool and tried to do the work manually. The result – it’s too tedious and time consuming and at the end left me frustrated because I couldn’t check how well or badly I had done the “theming” process myself. And I can’t possibly do this for every article that I write. Well enter Dr Andy Williams’ Web Content Studio that cuts down 3 hours of research work to a mere few minutes. I relented, paid for this tool and now think this is the best tool I’ve ever come across.

With theme keywords strategy,I write my article relatively long – about 1000 words but with this tool, it’s really quite easy but you just follow a “process”.

What is Web Content Studio?

It contains a set of tools in a suite all under one big software application. This explains the name “studio” and all the tools are located on conveniently placed tabs that you can click to easily go to. So you have a scratchpad that has an auto “grabber” feature that copies whatever research work you choose from any website that you conveniently placed in your “bookmarks”, another tab in this software suite. Other tabs include ‘Editor”, ‘Researcher’, ‘Keywords’ and ‘Notes’.

These tools are cleverly thought of by Dr Andy Williams to help you research the keywords that Google expect from authority sites whenever you write your contents. So if you are planning to write an article on say “affiliate marketing”, this tool will query Google  for the phrase “affiliate marketing”, and visit all the relevant pages listed at the top 10 (you select how many) sites and extract for you all the theme words like “affiliate”, “network”, “advertising”, “commission:, “merchant” and theme phrases like “contextual advertising”, “revenue sharing”, “cost per action”, “compensation methods” used by these top 10 sites Google ranked.

Once you have these keywords presented in a report (again all shown in this “Studio”) the objective is to write your article (Editor tab) that includes all these theme words and theme phrases. How many and what words you used are really up to you (you just put a ’tick’ on these words) but in the manual that comes with your purchase of Web Content Studio, Andy explains and provides suggestions based on not just his theory but showing you his real live cases and the results achieved. The result is that you will learn just what it takes to write your best article with these theme words and phrases that Google expects to see.

Here is a quick summary of the process flow when I write each of my well themed articles (in WCS):

1. Create a blank article page
2. Do keyword research.
3. Clean the list using the compare against top 10 so you only get the most popular words in your final list of theme words.
4. Write your article.
5. Check theme of article.

Where I am after 1 year?

I have built a total of  20 niche sites and I’m still using XFactor’s techniques that I learned although lately I’ve made some changes. I don’t always used the same template designs and colors although that’s more to add some fun to seeing a refreshing new looking template and not what others are saying about not leaving footprints by using the same color template. I really don’t believe using the same template will  get you into trouble with Google so long as you provide good information on your websites and earns its trust. The bottom line  - don’t make your niche site a MFA site.

Which is better, static websites (like XFactor) or WordPress theme?

I don’t think there is a clear answer to this as I’ve heard many people swear by XFactor’s templates and many others rave about how good WordPress is for niche sites creation. I personally used both methods now. I like the static ones that I used my Xsite-Pro2 to build because they give a more professional look. On the other hand, for my last 5 sites, I have used WordPress and I simply love building my new sites this way. Sort of like meeting up with an old trusted friend all over again.

Which is better? Building many small niche sites or few big sites?

When I first started building small niche sites, the original plan was to build a hundred sites over 2 to 3 years. Well after building about 20 sites in one year, I could still achieve this objective. But really, it’s not a numbers game as hypothetically you could have just 5 sites that earn you more money than 100 sites could. The key is to build sites that provide useful information that people are searching for so that these  sites earned the trust of Google. I may well focus on my top earning sites and grow a couple of them up into authority sites to increase my adsense income. That is a very likely option I’m now seriously considering.

In my short journey I witnessed this trust that Google looks for and one that it did place on was a particular niche website that I came across. What puzzled me at first was that this website had only 2 backlinks but could rank on Google’s #2. The keyword is searched 3600 times monthly and has a high ‘Strength of Competition’ of ’61′ when I looked at Micro Niche Finder. So what is the secret?  Google’s TRUST! and I later learned this key secret ingredient to niche building from Brian Johnson’s Commission Ritual. Oh BTW, this site now belongs to me because I bought it in Flippa but not before learning this wonderful little secret. It’s also the reason why my last 5 sites were built using WordPress.

AutoBlogging- Is it your friend or your worse enemy?

I have to say autoblogging is so widely used and whether you make it work to your advantage or get yourself into trouble depends entirely on you. One good way that someone makes good use of such automated WP plugins is using it to parse RSS feeds from other blogs to produce new posts in your blog. As owner, you tell the script which RSS feed to extract for importing and it checks for duplicates and create a new post from its RSS feed for you. The correct way to do this is add feeds that owners allow for syndication. You then give due recognition by linking back to the blog but respect and ignore those that specifically don’t allow any of their work “reproduced” anywhere. Unfortunately many people have conveniently used such free information quite blatantly using scrappers and have probably given the word “auto-blogging” a bad name, besides incurring the wrath of Google.

This is just one aspect of the auto blogging feature in some WordPress plugins and I do have one blog that uses a plugin to import Amazon products to add value to my niche product sites. For this blog of mine, I combine auto-blogging with unique content to give good user experience.

Buying Niche Sites

Another good way to grow your arsenal of good earning niche sites is to buy as many as you can afford them. However you have to do lots of checking before determining which sites are going to consistently make money online for you. I’ve purchased 2 such niche sites from Flippa and I do recommend anyone who has some spare cash to consider this marketplace too. Believe me some of the sites put on sale are really worth buying. Even if you don’t buy, you can learn a lot from just spying on how these pro bloggers make their awesome blogs. These are the people who make money blogging as a second nature. It’s from this place that I learned about Brian Johnson’s Commission Ritual too.

My Next Phase

It’s going to be more focused as I know pretty much what I have to do to increase my adsense income while doing clean, white hat techniques. Almost all of my sites are on Page 1 so the focus is on working towards increasing the CTR and getting more traffic and increase contents for all my top earning sites. I will also choose at least one good niche site to grow into an authority site besides growing my virtual real estate of small niche sites.

I have to say my last 12 months home business journey has been fulfilling as I gained much experience from learning from many work at home experts. It looks like niche marketing is going to be my main focus for a long time because it seems both interesting and a profitable.Similar Posts:

Starting a new internet business opportunity is an exciting prospect. We have high hopes for success and we know that there are millions of people on the internet and if we can just get a tiny percentage of those people to visit our new web site, we will be home free. Sounds like a plan, right? The internet can be a confusing place to start a business, take it from someone who has over 30 years of on-land experience; the transition to the internet has its own set of new and unique problems to overcome before the money starts rolling in.

The first and most important tip I want to offer you is this one: the internet highway is not paved with gold, it is paved with obstacles that, if you are not aware of them, will trip you up on your way to what you may think is an easy way to make money. There is no easy, simple way to make money anywhere, least of all on the internet. The only people that I know of who are making easy money on the internet are the ones who are peddling the scams that say there is easy money to be made on the internet!

My experience has shown me that the reality of making money on the internet is this; it’s harder to make money on the internet for a similar land line business for the simple fact that there is a middle man between you, the business owner, and your potential customers, all of those millions of people zooming around the internet. Out in the real world, all you need to do to open up a business is to open a store and, if you were on a busy street, you would have customers in your store in the first 5 minutes. Not so for your internet business opportunity.

You set up your web site, you turn on the switch, you are live and open and then what? Where are the millions of people zooming around the internet, where are your customers? This is where that middleman comes in that I mentioned at the beginning. That middleman holds the key to your success and your traffic. The middle man that I am talking about is the gate keepers to the traffic on the internet, the search engines. Like you, I was obviously aware of what the search engines did, and was fairly familiar with how they did it, what I was not familiar with was how that all fit into me opening up my first internet home business.

A mistake that I made was not sitting down with someone who understood this relationship with a new internet business and how I needed to get set up properly to make sure that I would get a least a tiny fraction of all of that internet traffic. It does not matter how many millions of people are on the internet, if they do not know you exist, and visit your web site, you might as well be in the middle of the desert for all the good they are going to do you.

You need to zero in on any internet business opportunity you may be considering and ask yourself this one vitally important question;

“Who is going to know I am in business and how am I going to get them to visit my web site?“

You could end up with the best business on the internet, you could have the most amazing web site, none of that will matter unless you can solve the issue all internet businesses have, getting that all elusive traffic to your web site. I wish someone had written an article like this when I first started out. I wish they then would have stapled it my forehead and made me read it every day for a month BEFORE I did anything about starting my first web site. If they had, I would have done things 100% differently. Take my advice; address the traffic generating steps you need to take before you think about starting any internet business opportunity.

The best place to look for getting good solid free advice on this topic is the blogs and forums on the internet. There are hundreds of them out there, all of the advice is up there to read for free. The information in almost all of the cases comes from people who have gone through this situation and have advice on how to overcome this problem.

My advice on this topic is simple and direct; the way to get real organic traffic to your web site is to make sure you have the freshest, most original content on your market and the search engines and the traffic will find you, eventually! Have a great day.

Operating an internet home business requires the proper set of business skills; you may be surprised what two skills I am referring too. I have recently been redoing one of my web sites and in the process I am receiving some “expert“ advice on what steps I should be taking to improve my site. The way in which I am receiving this advice highlights an area that the majority of people working and operating on the internet are neglecting, and the result is that they are simply far less effective and profitable as they may otherwise be.

I’ve listed below an exact copy of some of his “expert“ advice on how to improve my web site. There is nothing wrong with his advice, except that it is missing two crucial elements that would make his advice relevant and useful. He failed to make this advice part of an overall strategy; setting goals that integrate all old and new aspects of a program, something that is totally lacking in this project.

· Start searching for other sites that you can do link exchanges with and contacting the webmasters.

· Look for good articles from authority sites in your niche and leave a comment asking if it is okay if you link back to the article. Make sure your URL is in the comment somehow.

· Look for articles that are controversial that you can comment on intelligently and leave a link to your site.

· Do a Google search for your different keywords and “guest post” to try to find sites in your niche that you can guest post on.

· Get a free account at xxxxxxx, xxxxxxxxxxxxx, , make sure you have your URL in your member profile and interact with people. I think you can still have a link in your signature, so pick a thread that you think is a really good one and put the link in your signature.

· Submit articles places

Goal setting is a crucial element in the operation of any internet home business opportunity, without it, you are flying blind and rudderless, regardless of how good the business opportunity is that you have, failure to have properly set goals, will substantially reduce your profit potential. Goal setting gives you a short, mid and long term plan, a way to becomes successful and profitable. Without it, you are taking a long car trip without having any idea where you are going or when you may get there.

The above set of ideas on how to improve my web site is fine, the issue is, they are not tied to any other part of the program, and there lies another issue. If there is no cohesive plan, a laid out program that ties all of the bits and pieces together, you are once again at the mercy of luck and chance. I do not know about you, but I work too hard at my business to be at the mercy of “maybe it will work and may be it won’t”. Take the luck out of the equation and start properly setting your business goals. More on this in my next post.

The second ingredient you need to ensure you are on the right track and giving yourself the best chance at success is to guarantee you know what your priorities are. In the above list of ideas, what is missing, among other things, is any direction as to what is more important in relationship to the other things on the list.

Priorities are the objectives that ensure we are spending our time on the tasks that will give us the greatest return for the least amount of time and effort expended. This is the ear mark of a successful business person. Offline, online, it makes no difference, successful business people know that to get the best results, you have to know what the priorities are and know how to accomplish them.

If you are serious about making your internet home business a success, you need to make sure that goal setting and prioritizing those goals are part of your day-to-day operations. There is no question that picking the right internet business opportunity is crucial, but what is even more important is making sure that you have the right tools and skills to take that opportunity to the next level.
