A work at home business is a dream of many people, especially these days considering the financial crises we are going through and a really down job market. Working at home offers a lot of great benefits beside the obvious ones.

Some of the best positive aspects of working from home include, not having to spend money on gas commuting to and form work, having more free time to spend with your family and doing the things you love to do, having the freedom to work whenever you want and of course the biggest one being your own boss and not having to answer to anyone. Unfortunately, some of these positives like working whenever you like and not having to answer to a boss, may effect your home business negatively if not checked and under control.

One of the biggest challenges of having a “work at home” business is keeping a plan and a regular schedule. Most people who work at home, face many distraction and obstacles. Many people think because you work at home, you don’t follow any rules. In many cases, family and friends will constantly distract you and expect you to play along. With all these obstacles and distractions, it is hard to stay focused and get things done. However, there are things you can do to make your work at home a bit more like an actual job. Things that will help you get more things done and achieve your business goals. Here are 5 tips to help you do just that:

Plan your work day

Take 10 minutes every morning (or if you prefer do it at the end of the day for the next day)Make a simple daily schedule and note everything that needs to get done that day. That will help you stay online and focused while avoiding distractions.

Go through with it

When it comes to work at home businesses, making a plan isn’t that hard, it only takes a few minutes, sticking with the plan is the hard part. But, if you want to succeed, it is necessary to stick with the plan. Do your best to stick with your daily schedule. However, in some occasions you may find it hard to go with the plan, don’t be so hard on yourself. Give yourself a break here and there. And remember, not everything goes as planned always!

Keep motivating yourself

Motivation is one of the biggest factors when it comes to having a good work day and accomplishing all the daily tasks. And since you work at home, that means, you are the one who has to keep you motivated and going. A simple way to keep yourself motivated is to keep things that are motivating to you, close by, on your desk perhaps. Write down your biggest goal and keep it in your desk where you can look at it every time you feel down. Keep a copy of that book that inspired you to start this business. Anything that you can look at and get motivation from.

Treat it as a real business

Just because you are your own boss and work from home doesn’t mean your work is not important. Your work at home business still is a business and like any other business, it needs to be dealt with as a business and not a hobby.

Set working hours

Working at the comfort of your own home has its benefits and of course its pitfalls. Using those benefits to your advantage and avoiding those pitfalls will be an important part of where or not you succeed in working from home.

Building and maintaining a successful and profitable home business requires a lot of hard work, commitment and a willingness to never give up, but most importantly, it requires a laser like focus. By implementing these tips you can ensure your home business is on the right track to becoming and staying a profitable and successful business you can rely on.

Starting a new internet business opportunity is an exciting prospect. We have high hopes for success and we know that there are millions of people on the internet and if we can just get a tiny percentage of those people to visit our new web site, we will be home free. Sounds like a plan, right? The internet can be a confusing place to start a business, take it from someone who has over 30 years of on-land experience; the transition to the internet has its own set of new and unique problems to overcome before the money starts rolling in.

The first and most important tip I want to offer you is this one: the internet highway is not paved with gold, it is paved with obstacles that, if you are not aware of them, will trip you up on your way to what you may think is an easy way to make money. There is no easy, simple way to make money anywhere, least of all on the internet. The only people that I know of who are making easy money on the internet are the ones who are peddling the scams that say there is easy money to be made on the internet!

My experience has shown me that the reality of making money on the internet is this; it’s harder to make money on the internet for a similar land line business for the simple fact that there is a middle man between you, the business owner, and your potential customers, all of those millions of people zooming around the internet. Out in the real world, all you need to do to open up a business is to open a store and, if you were on a busy street, you would have customers in your store in the first 5 minutes. Not so for your internet business opportunity.

You set up your web site, you turn on the switch, you are live and open and then what? Where are the millions of people zooming around the internet, where are your customers? This is where that middleman comes in that I mentioned at the beginning. That middleman holds the key to your success and your traffic. The middle man that I am talking about is the gate keepers to the traffic on the internet, the search engines. Like you, I was obviously aware of what the search engines did, and was fairly familiar with how they did it, what I was not familiar with was how that all fit into me opening up my first internet home business.

A mistake that I made was not sitting down with someone who understood this relationship with a new internet business and how I needed to get set up properly to make sure that I would get a least a tiny fraction of all of that internet traffic. It does not matter how many millions of people are on the internet, if they do not know you exist, and visit your web site, you might as well be in the middle of the desert for all the good they are going to do you.

You need to zero in on any internet business opportunity you may be considering and ask yourself this one vitally important question;

“Who is going to know I am in business and how am I going to get them to visit my web site?“

You could end up with the best business on the internet, you could have the most amazing web site, none of that will matter unless you can solve the issue all internet businesses have, getting that all elusive traffic to your web site. I wish someone had written an article like this when I first started out. I wish they then would have stapled it my forehead and made me read it every day for a month BEFORE I did anything about starting my first web site. If they had, I would have done things 100% differently. Take my advice; address the traffic generating steps you need to take before you think about starting any internet business opportunity.

The best place to look for getting good solid free advice on this topic is the blogs and forums on the internet. There are hundreds of them out there, all of the advice is up there to read for free. The information in almost all of the cases comes from people who have gone through this situation and have advice on how to overcome this problem.

My advice on this topic is simple and direct; the way to get real organic traffic to your web site is to make sure you have the freshest, most original content on your market and the search engines and the traffic will find you, eventually! Have a great day.

No pun intended, but hopefully I got your attention. Do you own a Blogger Blog for your home business blog or do you own some micro niche sites or intend to create one in the near future? Why You May Lose Your Blogger Blog

From what I have been reading lately, Google is on a crackdown of spam Blogger Blogs using an automated classification system to identify them for their deletions. However this system seems to be totally unreliable and Google openly said so too in a reply to one deleted blog “…If your blog is not a spam blog, then it was one of the false positives, and we apologize.” Such audacity, such ruthlessness.

I went to check out 2 such blogs just to confirm how flawed their system was and how frustrated and angry the blog owners were made to be by the mother of all search engines. One happens to be my good friend Chandan who lost his PR 3 blog due to this ‘false positive’ and all 170 blog posts built over the last 18 months. He is now rebuilding his new blog after saying goodbye to his blogger blog. The other blogger is someone I found at random on the Internet who suffered a similar fate as Google labeled as “spam”. Believe me, he wasn’t amused at having to reconstruct his lost blog and a full year’s posts at a new wordpress blog.  This is his reconstructed blog and you can judge for yourself if this blog is spammy : “The Job Seeker’s Blog”

What we suggest you do…

If you value your blogger blog and have painstakingly created 100s of posts over the years, you really ought to think about moving it to a self-hosted wordpress blog. It’s for complete peace of mind and it costs about 7 dollars a month to do so at Hostgator. (yes you only pay 1-cent for the first month if you used the coupon code “wordpress”.)

The Micro Niche Adsense Site – Any Danger Lurking Ahead?

There has been much debate over the risks of creating Micro Niche Adsense sites even before the recent Google’s de-indexing saga came into the limelight. Is Google targeting small niche adsense sites next? Grizzly seems to think so in his post Making Money Online in 2010-A Facelift and warned about this in his post:Don’t build “thin sites”, he says. These sites are focused on Made for Adsense (MFA) as they are usually short, badly written posts in which adsense takes centrestage and predominantly fills up the better part of the page.

I sent an email to John Xfactor, the creator of Xfactor’s Micro Niche Adsense to find out his thoughts on whether his micro niche adsense sites are in danger of getting de-indexed by Google. He said ” …..I stick with unique content and do not do any backlink practices that is considered unethical. Also, I grow all of my sites. All of my micro niche sites are nearing 100 pages each (and I have 100 of them).”

There is actually nothing wrong with anyone wishing to focus on building micro niche adsense websites. In fact, if you learned the right strategies, it can be a very profitable online business to go into. However many Internet Marketers looked for short cuts to making good adsense profits and behold the one page niche website was born.  Perhaps that’s why Google seems so firm to get rid of the trouble makers, even if it means having to injure a few innocent law abiding ones. It may be adopting a “Shoot First, Explain Later” kind of policy which many of us do not appreciate.

What we suggest you do….

Gone are the days when you could easily set up a one page website, get it easily ranked on Google’s page one and start making money online. Then continue building an empire of these one page wonders and continue making more money blogging. As Google seems to be on a crackdown on them, first and foremost, stop making MFA sites and start growing your niche sites by adding more pages for every one of them.

If adsense has been giving you a nice online income over the years, this may be a wake up call to find out if you are in violation of Google’s TOS. Spend the next hour or so to review all your adsense sites and do your bit to protect your adsense account.Similar Posts:

If you have been following this blog you would know that I’ve focused a lot of effort on Micro Niche Adsense and have achieved good success so far. While I’ll still continue to grow my adsense sites, since I follow the successful XFactor’s Adsense Master Course I’m now working to create my first micro niche affiliate marketing website.

Is  Affiliate Marketing Over Saturated?

There are many Internet Marketers who feel that the affiliate marketing industry is over saturated at the moment, but I prefer to see it in a different perspective. Affiliate marketing is not over saturated, it’s just that your niche market is too competitive for you to make any real money.  You have to seriously re-look at your ‘how, where and what’ to promote. So if you have a make money online niche or a make money blogging niche, it can be an uphill task to promote your affiliate products successfully in them.

Here’s the solution:

Micro Niche  Affiliate Marketing

This just means creating a micro niche website which specifically targets at a smaller niche market. The truth is that every market has its problems that need solved  and people are willing to pay good money to get rid of the problems that affect them. If you can identify what kind of problems are affecting them and provide them the means to solve their problems, you just had it made. In an affiliate marketing perspective all that you do is use your keyword tool to look for specific products and market to these people so that they get to fix their problems fast.

Here is the plan…

Step 1 – Find products you think can solve a problem or lots of people search for

There are many places that you can go to but the most obvious one would be Clickbank since it is well established and there are thousands of top quality products to choose from. The key is to find products that you are really interested in and you know that people are ready and willing to put their money in .

Step 2 -Keyword Research

• You can use any free tools to do your keyword research but I used Micro Niche Finder since it has successfully found the right profitable keywords for me in all my micro adsense sites.
• For every product that you chose in Step 1, enter the most appropriate keyword that relates to the product.  So if your choice was a stop snoring product then your keyword to be used is “snoring”. The micro niche will list down all the suggested keyword ideas for you. It’s that simple.

Step 3 – Evaluate who are your competitors

• Your keyword research is not complete until you know what competition you are up against with in your niche. For more details on how to do this you can refer to my post “Micro Niche Finder Makes Keyword Research Fun” and how it tells you the ‘strength of competition’.
• The strategy as you might have guessed is to find keywords that have low competition and yet have sufficient traffic searching on these keywords.

Step 4 – Pick Your Domain Name

• Your domain name should contain the main keyword you have selected om Step 2.  Not only is this good for SEO but good for visitors’ experience because it is also the name of the product.
• Personally my domain name extension preference is .com, .org and .net in that order

Step 5 – No more one page website

The one page website wonder is probably a thing of the past when people could create in hundreds these one page websites and still make money from them no matter how skimpy they may look to the visitors. I figured you must have a minimum of 5 pages (excluding your required pages of privacy, about, contacts).

Step 6 – Link Building

Needless to say you have to do your backlink building to your new website to ensure you rank not just on Google’s page one but top 4 positions before you can get any decent traffic.

How to promote a business through online marketing

There’s a wide world out there, and it is right at your fingertips. The internet has shortened the distances between consumers and competitors, and a cyber-stroll into the global village brings you to products and opportunities galore. The trick is then how to capitalize on this cornucopia of opportunity, before others do so before you.

To start with, you need to speak your customers’ language. While English may seem to reach far and wide, it has in fact reached only 28 percent of the global population and the remaining 72 percent expect you to speak to them in their own tongue. The first step towards this is creating localised domains translated into the language of each target market.

Domain is crucial as I, in .fr France, look for services in my own domain and language. This means you, advertising in .com America, hold little interest for me. If you venture into my virtual realm then you stand a much better chance of winning my custom.

And one size does not fit all. Resist the temptation to directly translate keywords and other key parts of your website. Language is a minefield and there are plenty of opportunities to come to grief on distorted nuances, or simply language-blind error.

Language aside, people react to colour and images in different ways, depending on their culture. Red can mean purity in the East (specifically India) and passion in the West; while white is the colour of brides for many, it can be the colour of mourning to others. Many cultures have their own colour connotations and knowing about them is all part of your research.

But these are just the building blocks. Once you have got beyond the basic features of language and colour you need to bear in mind that content and design can also ensnare the unwary and inflexible. Each localised website, in each different domain, will need to be tailored to local tastes and preferences, while still keeping some consistency in your branding.

Domain, language, colour and layout. These are all crucial steps to launching your website to an expanding market. But to take it the extra mile there are still more sophisticated ways to draw the readers in. Search Engine Optimization (SEO), email campaigns, article creation and aggregation, and social media are all means to this end.

SEO is a key strategy for the businesses of today to gain their toe-hold in the internet. It is a hard and long path up the Google rankings, and taking it in multiple languages does not make it any easier. Multiple Search Engine Optimization (MSEO) is an emerging field that seeks to make the way a little smoother. It recognizes this fundamental principle, that optimizing SEO keywords across languages is not a simple matter of employing a dictionary. Mistranslation aside, popular search terms differ between languages, and even between countries which ostensibly speak the same language.

Researching these is an obvious step. A pick-up to an American is a Ute to an Australian and ignoring details like these can have serious effects on your SEO campaign in its different domains. Equally, a US company advertising car insurance, that wants to target French markets, could very easily translate ‘car insurance’ as ‘l’assurance automobile,’ a literal and legitimate rendering. However, a look on Google’s keyword tool would reveal that key search terms which will yield more results are ‘assurance auto’ or ‘assurance voiture.’ This simple step makes all the difference. And keep researching your keywords and descriptions, as these terms update themselves and your website needs to keep up.

Localization may seem a tedious business, but it does pay. 2007 research by the Localization Industry Standards Association showed that each dollar invested in website localization produced a $25 return. And that figure was up from $10 per dollar in 2001. Both localization and SEO will make all the difference to your marketing strategy. Quite apart from preventing linguistic or cultural gaffes, they will also maximize your visibility on foreign search engines.

My Google Adsense earnings in March grew by more than 43% over last month. But do you think it is because of the recently launched Google-Certified Ad Networks?

Did you see any spectacular increase in your Google Adsense income this month? No I am not referring to any new adsense strategies you’d learned recently but something you have very little control of.  I’m actually referring to a recent Google announcement advising Adsense Publishers it has allowed many new advertisers from approved third-party networks to compete with Adwords advertisers to display ads on Google Content Network.

What does this new change mean for Google Adsense Publishers (mostly bloggers like you and me)?

1. When new advertisers from these third-party networks compete with existing AdWords advertisers for the right to display their ads on publisher sites this will lead to more ads appearing on our websites or blog. If you have very relevant traffic coming to your websites it just means people are now presented with more information. For publishers this translates to more adsense clicks and make more money from adsense.

2. You will have control over which of the 90 Google certified ad networks you want to appear on your web pages with more to be added by Google over the next few months. You can see them by simply going to Google Adsense Setup>Ad Review Center page. By default these new ad networks are automatically activated in your account until you decided to block them. If you feel more comfortable to prefer to only show Adwords Advertisers’ ads, just look for ‘Allow and Block Google Certified Ad Networks’ section to block them from showing.

Why I am not overly excited about this change?

1. Well firstly, the announcement from Google Adsense I received 10 days ago does not say much. Who knows perhaps there is more to it than meets the eye.

2. Perhaps the move by Google to partner networks is it’s latest strategy to expand their adsense revenue.  But there is interesting speculation that adsense enthusiasts view this move as Google taking swift action against too much competition from other ad networks eating a little too much of their Google pie. What do you think?

3. These changes apply solely to image ads and do not include text ads although this was never clearly communicated to publishers, which supports my no. 1 point. Advertisers paying CPM (cost per thousand impressions) are not known to pay that well at least for me although I’ve read of other marketers earning more in CPMs than CPCs.

4. Almost all of my adsense ads placements are text ads so my Google Adsense 43 percent increased revenue for this month most certainly was not as a result of this change. I’ll probably share some of my tips I used in another post.

Recently while revisiting some of my older posts in my home business blog to do some tests on my Google Adsense placements, I came across my post titled: “If I Could Start My Blog All Over….” where I asked 4 of my blogging friends to give their thoughts on how different their blogs might be if they were starting all over again.

Well all of them said they would still have their blogs but with big differences in how they were to be built and promoted impacting domains, backlinks, blog marketing, blog theme among others. These are valid suggestions or improvements on their blogs which now begs the question : “How important do you value your blog?”.  Would you have the courage or audacity to give up your blog now? Or would you have not started with a blog at all if you had to start your Internet Home Business all over again?

Well my good friend Tom Lindstrom from The Home Business Archive says “Marketing without a website can be done by building a list of subscribers and broadcasting messages to that list.” All that is needed, he says, is a monthly investment for a reliable autoresponder which costs about $20. That is relatively low maintenance although this expense could be about twice you would have paid hostgator every month to maintain your hosting account.  But not having to update your blog frequently should make up more than the 10 bucks you got to dish out.

Going without a blog or a website is a serious decision to make and presumably you know what you’re doing if you’re seriously contemplating just that. Starting an autoresponder is not the only serious work you have to immerse yourself with. In Tom’s post, he advocates having a “system” to follow before you can start to run your home business. His system focuses on :

• establishing yourself as an expert on whatever affiliate products you intend to market. My thoughts on this: Well some statistics I’ve come across put the affiliate marketing industry failure rate as 95% so obviously you have to strive to be in the 5% category of successful affiliate marketers.
• using article marketing and promote extensively your affiliate products using both your article “resource box” and your autoresponder. Well that is something new for the average blogger and it’s for better usage than most of us could ever imagined.

My Final Thoughts

Personally, I would prefer having a blog and website than without one. The look and feel of a blog has changed over the years and somehow I get the feeling that people are more comfortable “talking” to someone on his blog than through his autoresponder. Nevertheless I know that the autoresponder plays a significant role in most successful marketers’ rise to fame and fortune.

A blog plays a big part in introducing who you are as an Internet Marketer through this communication channel. I have also yet to read many success stories of marketers who became exceedingly successful without a website or a blog. But of course it could be this ignorant me or the lazy part of me preferring not the road less traveled.

I guess by now you would have heard so much excitement about how many internet marketers are using high PR profile pages to attain high search engine rankings. If you have not, then check out a previous post of mine titled “Taking Backlink Building To a Higher Level” to get you up to speed.

What are High PR Profile pages

Essentially these are high authority websites with a page rank of PR6-Pr9 and allow anyone free membership that comes with the usual profile page set up. The profile page is where you add a few do-follow backlinks pointing to your website. There are perhaps thousands of these websites but Angela, and probably many other copy-cats search for good ones to offer to their affiliates who joined their programs. I don’t know about others but Angela makes hers so affordable at $5 a month membership it seems a no-brainer to join, and saving me the trouble to look for these links.

You know learning the techniques of getting high backlinks has been a hot topic for everyone but Angela Edward pioneered this simple concept herself before sharing with others in her now famous WSO (Warrior Special Offer) called ‘Angela Edward’s Backlink Building Program. That program is so well known and successful new marketers who joined it give it due respect and don’t question if it works; but rather how they can use the program to leverage on their other link building activities. Yeah it’s quite phenomenal.

While there is no doubt of the value of these high PR backlinks getting you the boost in your search engine ranking, you have to acknowledge that it does take some time for Google to index the profile pages containing your backlinks. By virtue of these sites having such great authority and page rank, Angela’s link packets have thousands of web pages on them. I figure Google spider with all its sophistication does take some time to go through these pages and noticing your backlinks. People are now getting anxious to find out more ingenious ways on how to get them indexed quickly.

I have been focusing a bit more attention in getting my Angela’s backlink program profile pages indexed by Google as well. I am using Slingshot method by Mark Dickenson to do this and the following free methods as well:

Pinging your profile page – Individual pages

I think most people are familiar with pinging their blog or static website each time they have added new content on it. It seems to be a standard practice and even your wordpress blog now comes with an auto pinging feature whenever you have published a new post.

Do you know that you can also ping your profile page or RSS to expedite Google indexing this page and thereafter your backlinks too?  Here are just 2 sites that I use to do this – pingler and pingmyblog. Pinging your profile pages – Group links

This is like the mother of all feeds and allows you to create a page full of your profile or feeds that you can then send to the usual directories. To make feed / RSS you can use IceRocket Free RSS Builder. Simply sign up to create your RSS Channel.  When you’ve got this channel then click “Add Entry” and fill in the required information in “Entry Title”, “Entry Link” and “Entry Summary”. Do this for all your (Angela’s) profile pages or any other pages that you like. Finally click XML to see your new feed/RSS that you have created. Here is an example of my profile page feed I specially created for this post. Then once you’ve got your RSS feed just submit it to your favorite RSS directories.

My Final Thoughts

There is really no fix time when Google will count your backlink and even if it did may never show it to you. Such is the sheer dominance Google has over us insignificant bloggers Sometimes your links show up on your backlink checker tool within a week especially forum links but these backlink check tools don’t often show you everything because of one good reason – they rely on the little data fed from all the search engines including Google. So if you are using these tools, do take them with a grain of salt.

The more important thing is to try to get your profile pages indexed by Google. Then let nature takes its course and you’ll get your backlinks sooner or later even if you don’t see them in your backlink checker.

My Google Adsense earnings for Nov’09 posted $104.32 and while it’s not earth shaking news, it does give me some satisfaction and I probably should enjoy the moment a little. Although it is not my biggest earner for some months, it’s been my most consistent revenue generating advertising program.

Well after 6 long months, I finally made $100 in Adsense earnings in a single month, a first for me since I started using the ad network around end May 2009. I know for many marketers that’s nothing much to shout about and the real achievements are really from those people who have gone to make $100 per day in adsense. Yeah I see quite a number of such feats in many online forums. Well for what it’s worth I like to reflect upon this small milestone and share with you what I’ve learned:

1. Will having more websites help?

I started with one domain (1 homepage, 1 blog) and now I have 7 domains and 9 websites. I have seen many people succeed in Google Adsense with just one authority website and with tons of content pages. As I don’t have an authority website and since this blog has only a humble 190 posts, I decided Micro Adsense Mini Sites was my best option.

2. Does more traffic equal more adsense income?

I used to believe you need lots of traffic and perhaps that’s why I started my adsense journey so late. While there is some truth in it, I like to think it applies more to the conventional type of websites. The small niche sites received more targeted traffic and therefore more clicks given that a page is focused entirely on one keyword phrase. I’ve seen many of my niche sites getting few impressions but as much as 50% CTR.

3. Blending your ads

I have found blending the ads into my blog help to give better results. I did lots of testing but found the borderless ad block size 336×280, blue color links, grey-out text help increase Google AdSense click-through rate.

4. Follow a Proven Adsense Master Course

I have to say it not because this is an affiliate link but following XFactor’s Micro Niche Adsense Course was the turning point of my Adsense milestone. It has saved me loads of time testing and tweaking but most of all I didn’t know a thing about creating Micro Niche Adsense sites to begin with.

5. Choosing the right niche makes all the difference

To be honest before learning from Xfactor’s Adsense Course and before I came to know about what Micro Niche Finder can do, I thought I would have difficulty selecting the right niche to target. Well today I don’t have such fears and I much enjoy finding a new niche each time I’m ready to add on to my growing micro niche adsense sites.

6. Why do you need 100′s of Micro Niche Websites

Well even though I only have 9 earning websites I know it’s a lot more profitable than 2 when I just got started. You will also have to accept the fact that not all your websites are all going to do well and remain on Google’s page 1. So far I’ve had 1 niche site sandboxed and just returned back to normalcy.

Perhaps what I learned from someone who makes more than $100 a day tells a lot why the more sites the better. He says only about 10% of his sites make the real dough but he is still growing adsense empire every week. He is in a comfortable position to wait for many to come out of sandbox as that seems to be a temporary phase most new sites go through. It has got to be about using the right strategy, continue backlinking and having self-belief that it will work.

7. The good old ‘rinse and repeat’ the process

If you do find a winning formula or business strategy, you ought to duplicate your success over and over again. It is the same here too. If I didn’t think it worth adding on more adsense sites, I would have stopped wasting my time. Well I’m now on no. 6 and thinking of doing no. 7 soon so that says a lot.
