I don’t publish my blog income regularly like some bloggers do, although I used to a long time ago. This month, June however is somewhat special as it is the half year mark. For marketers and bloggers alike, you may have done your goal setting at the beginning of the year and June is a good time as any to take stock of where you are today and what changes you can make to achieve your 2010 goals.

June also was quite an eventful month for me as it was then that I quit my day job. Well here’s the highlights of my blog income for June 2010:

Quick, Easy Twitter Backlinks Trick For You

Here is something I found someone used to get Twitter Backlinks and I thought I’d share it with whoever is interested in wanting to get more backlinks. I don’t believe I said that, of course everyone wants backlinks especially if it’s this easy and with so much talk about Google Caffeine, what you’re going to do can only help you.

About Google Caffeine…

As you know early this month Google has fully implemented Google Caffeine and I’ll probably write a post on that soon. But for now while most of us may not know to what extent it’s going to impact us, suffice to say Google now finds fresh content on any given topic much faster than before and shown in Google index in seconds.

While still trying to grasp how the changes impact us, there is a lot of talk that with such real time updates, the competition is going to go only in one direction – up! and your search engine ranking could possibly be in danger of dropping. We also know that the social networks are going to play a big part of how Google Caffeine might impact us.

Only time will tell when the dust settles just what Google Caffeine will adversely affect us. But here is something that I found that might cushion the impact, albeit a very small help perhaps. Well here it is:

How to get Twitter Backlinks

1. First you need to locate where your twitter account feed is. Go to your twitter account url like mine’s http://twitter.com/peterleehc

2. Look for a link that has this text “RSS feed of Username’s Updates”. Copy the url and just save it to a text file. You’re going to use it later. Mine looks like this:http://twitter.com/statuses/user_timeline/14239758.rss so make sure you’re seeing something like this.

3. Then finally start promoting this RSS feed to all your favorite RSS Aggregators. It’s that simple.

Why promote your Twitter RSS feed to RSS Aggregators?

1. It’s supposed to help increase your Twitter’s Google Page Rank. Well not that it means so much but for ego boosting

2. Whenever you tweet with a link, your tweet automatically updates all these RSS Aggregators that you had your twitter RSS feed submitted to. Pretty cool huh? You get immediate backlinks from the whole blogosphere in just one tweet.

3.I’m sure you have already been submitting your website feeds to your favorite RSS Aggregators. I am using Big Mike’s RSSBot which automatically sends to more than 30 RSS Aggregators at one click. Don’t worry I’m not promoting this product and this is not an affiliate link, but just in case you like to own such a great tool (It costs about $30 and another $20 a month if you wish to promote as an affiliate ).

4. I presume you have already set up your blog to auto update your twitter account each time you publish a post on your blog. For those of you who may be new to blogging or twitter, here is the post that tells you how you can do this. Here is my old post A Neat Trick To Twitter Tweet Your Blog.

Final Thoughts

This is quite a simple yet powerful way to get your Twitter backlinks don’t you think? It’s combining the power of RSS and your twitter RSS feed to get more traffic and more backlinks. Now start tweeting.

Wanna Know What Google Sees In Your Blog’s Home Page?

How often do you change the way your blog homepage look? Or how frequently do you change your blog theme – to a premium theme or custom theme perhaps? There are also many free themes available for download so you practically can change your blog theme everyday if you liked to. But have you ever considered how Google sees your changed homepage?

Have You Put Your Best Keywords on Your Blog HomePage?

Some people say it’s good SEO to put your main keywords on your blog homepage although I like to put it down as good common sense. After all your homepage is undoubtedly the most important page compared with any other inside pages of your blog.

Most of us frequently made changes to our homepage more for the aesthetics reason. Yeah pretty much the look and feel of it simply because we wanted to give our blog a fresh look. Like having a new coat of paint for our home from time to time if you will.

Well given that your main keywords are located on your homepage, you may want to know how Google sees your new homepage whenever you decided to give it a new look.

How Does Google View Your Site?

Here’s how you can tell. Just go to https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal and type in your website in the “Website Content” tab.

Then do these steps:
1. On the prompt “Enter a web page URL to find keywords related to the content on the page” type in your blog url and click “Get Keyword Ideas”.

This is how Google thinks of your site and what it is all about.

Now I like the following check because it gives you a more visual impact of what Google actually sees in your blog homepage.

2. Go to Google and search for your blog home page by selecting any keyword that you currently rank. For example I selected Home Business Blog which I currently rank on Google No. 1:

3. Click the “Cached” link under your listing.
4. Then click the “Tex-only version” link at the top right.

So this is basically what Google sees including all your links, image alt tags names you have given your images. If you are going through this review you might want to rename these images if they are not relevant to your page. You want Google to see your blog exactly as you wanted it to see.

For me my cached index page does have “home business blog” written all over the page along with very specific keywords I had also intended Google to see. If you just look at my Featured Posts you will see “Passive Income Ideas”, “How To Make Money Blogging” “Home Business Blog” all helping me get to Google Page 1. I had written about this strategy a long time ago and have kept this till today. Check this post which has the details of how I did it: Use This Simple Technique To Increase Blog Traffic.

But having said that, Backlink Building using these anchor texts is still the no. priority I used to get them to where they are today. Having them on the blog homepage just helped to tell Google what your site is all about and helped in the top ranking too.

My Strategy To Increase My Google Adsense Revenue

It’s been 6 months since I ventured into building micro niche adsense sites following John XFactor’s Adsense Master Course blueprint. If you have not read my post I wrote last September sharing with you why I decided to build micro niche adsense sites, feel free to read the post “Buiding Micro Niche Mini-Websites Took Off This Week“.

My 6-month Google Adsense Report Card

1. Track My Results:

Just like in any new online business opportunity you’ve started, it is important to track your own progress closely. You then rinse and repeat the process that got you the good results and for others that failed to meet your expectation, well the analysis begins.

2. My Micro Niche Adsense Websites – Useful Statistics

Number of adsense websites created – 9
Websites on Google’s Page 1 – 9
Websites on Google’s Top 3 positions – 5
Adsense Earnings reached $100 per month in Dec’09
Adsense Earnings reached $180 for March’10

3. How I achieved Google’s Page 1 Results

Simple. I just followed XFactor’s ebook to the Tee. I did share this in my post “John XFactor’s Micro Niche Adsense-The Adsense Lessons I Learned” including purchasing the Micro Niche Adsense Finder as well as the XSite Pro2. For backlink building and getting to top of search engine ranking I joined Angela’s Backlink Builders Program. The program works very well giving you 30 high page rank websites at an absurdly price of just $5.00 per month.

My Strategy To Increase My Google Adsense Revenue

I have been monitoring my adsense earnings generated by my top 3 niche websites and they have consistently contributed to more than 50 per cent of each month’s adsense revenue. In March, I focused most of my attention and effort into these 3 sites including getting more backlinks and adding more pages. However adding more pages to the main website is really the easy part and it’s pretty easy with my Xsite-Pro2. What is more important and perhaps made the real difference in the results achieved is putting the icing on the cake. Well this is what I did:

More keyword Research:

As you know my 3 main websites are already on Google’s top 3 positions for the keywords that I am ranking due to all my backlinking work. They have consistently remained in these positions and the CPC is pretty good. Before I go adding a new page to each of these 3 websites, I do a quick keyword research using my Micro Niche Finder. This time I looked for a few potential keyword phrases that are more competitive but still related to my main keyword I am ranking for my homepage. I then used my favorite site Spyfu dot com to find the highest cost per click from each of these potential keyword phrases that advertisers are prepared to pay. Then I write my usual content and add my new page using this newly found keyword phrase. Then do the same of the other 2 websites. Job done!

The reason why this method works is because in the new keyword phrases that I found, I am not trying to rank in the search engines. That would be silly as I stand no chance at all of making it as they are highly competitive. I still continue to rank just for my homepage’s keyword phrase. When my visitors click my homepage, they will now proceed to other new pages (link is made visible on the homepage) to look for more information. When they do so, any click on these new pages get me a higher adsense revenue because of the higher CPC.

Do you use your blog to make you money? I ask this because interestingly in all my years visiting blogs, their blog owners have almost since inception, started commercializing their blogs. Learning, finally knowing and then sharing with others how to make money blogging is the process each of these blogs go through – but not as easy as it sounds here though.

But interesting enough I read in a post a few days ago that there are some people who have strong personal objections to making money from their blogs. I guess these are the bloggers who associate making money from blogs as immoral, unethical, greedy and the like. That is fine too as there are many different reasons why people set up their blogs and as long as they help to fulfill a purpose, they are probably happy. However it is important that one makes up his or her own mind from the beginning so that your blog content and development follows a consistent objective.

Well for those like me who have started monetizing their blogs for some time, here is some food for thought on how to make money blogging posts which I recently found interesting:

1. Tom Lindstrom tells us that if we want to earn an income from our blog, we should follow some blogging rules to help make that happen. He shares with us his 8 essential blogging rules.

2. I’ve always enjoyed visiting Grizzly’s blog and what I really like about him is that although he monetizes his blog, I have never seen him push a product to your face to sell. If you look at his number of subscribers his blog commands, you will know many others like what they find in his blog. Check out his Make Money Using Blogs – Lesson 1.

3. Garry Conn has been quite an influence to me and this blog had the honor of his guest post some time ago. Sometimes its seeing successful bloggers that make money blogging so effortlessly just motivates me to carrying on blogging. He shows us how to sell products in Clickbank.

4. Here is a post with a refreshing change. Learn How To Make Money From Your Blog from a quick video that gives you the 8 Steps to make money from your blog.

5. If you like writing why not use that interest and passion to earn you some money. How To Make Money With Blogitive tells you how you can do just that and earn $5 for writing a short 100-word article.

6. In my recent visits to many blogs on monetization posts, the two most common profitable ways being shared with their readers seem to be ‘Google Adsense’ and ‘Niche Blogging’. Well here is one now – 7 Tips For Profitable Niche Blogging.

7. I like Mark Knowles’ How To Make Money Blogging post because a lot of what he’s written is what I practiced for all my niche blogs. He gives you a step by step guide to making money blogging.

John “Xfactor’s” Micro Niche Adsense-The Adsense Lessons I Learned

Since the launch of my very first Xfactor’s Micro Niche Adsense website 6 months ago, I have learned quite a lot about how to make money with Google Adsense. I realize this learning has to be ongoing and what you figured out right today may not be applicable tomorrow especially since Google is constantly changing it’s algorithms.

Well you can say with Google it follows the saying “the only thing constant is change”. One good example is that a year ago many people were just happily creating one-page adsense sites to join the bandwagon and earn on Adsense clicks. Today one page sites are probably not so workable now that Caffeine is in mode and those who started that way are now beefing them up with more pages. Still most of us bloggers who continue to be passionate about making money with Google adsense will continue to comply to whatever whims and fancies Google decides what’s good for its advertising platform.

So the adsense lessons I learned during the last 6 months are:

1. Keyword Research is the most important process of the make money with Google Adsense campaigns. Knowing the strength of competition allows you to determine if you could ever dominate that niche you are interested in and gauge how much work you have to do to be in the top 4 positions at least. And if like me you used Angela Edward’s Backlink Building Program to get you to top search engine ranking, that translates to how much profile backlinks you will need to accomplish that.

2. Get backlinks, lots of them pointing to each of your adsense sites. Xfactor uses article writing exclusively to get the backlinks, while I prefer Angela’s Backlinks simply because it takes less work to achieve the same results, although I still used article submission sparingly.

3. Aged domains is very much an important SEO factor. This home business blog and my work at home homepage still make money with adsense and the adsense clicks are quite consistent since I now have many keyword phrases on Google’s page 1. The 2 tweaks I had made to get more adsense clicks are:

Putting a 300X250 rectangular ad on the right side bar gets more hits than other previously placed affiliate ads.
search for list posts and place a horizontal link unit. The reason – most readers like me tend to be lazy and like to read list posts because they are scannable and easy to read. The Google link unit adds as additional information

4. Google’s ad and image placement policy requires that you do not put any images next to your Google ads. Contrary to what others think you cannot just put a border line to separate the images from the ad and think that is acceptable. It is not. This, according to Google suggests a relationship between the images and the ads and may be construed as misleading readers. Here is the policy that you can read for yourself.

5. Google’s Smart Pricing Policy is something bloggers who make money from adsense must be aware of. Smart pricing essentially means that the earning per click can be reduced by Google if you are deemed to be giving low conversion rate to advertisers. So, if you are smart-priced by Google, you could be getting only $0.10 for what’s worth $1 per click before.

So what this means is that you should always be looking at your Adsense stats a little closer than you have been to see if you have big numbers of impressions with hardly any clicks. I guess this favors the advertisers more than publishers and it’s Google’s way of making Google Adsense one of the best advertising platforms. Then again a publisher may at the same time be an advertiser too and so there shouldn’t be too many grouses about this policy.

John “Xfactor’s” Micro Niche Adsense-The Blog Tools I Used

If you are in a habit of buying domains and running many websites to serve the needs of your online home business then I guess you probably rely on a good process to maintain so many of them. You could also be outsourcing some of the more labor intensive, boring and simple tasks demanded from your business. Well as for me I have a growing number of Xfactor Micro Niche Adsense websites and I rely a lot on a few of my favorite blog tools to get by.

These blog tools have in some small ways saved me lots of man hours and allowed me to focus on more important work like backlink building to Google’s page 1 – all of them are now on page 1 except for my newest awaiting Google’s indexing.

1. Micro Niche Finder

This tool has greatly helped me find all the untapped niches for my Micro Niche Adsense websites. Finding the best keyword phrase (3 word maximum) is important to me because I used it to buy the exact domain name. I really cannot imagine if I get this wrong, it would be disastrous and I’d be terribly disheartened to launch any new sites. There is therefore no room for mistake and Micro Niche Finder gives me that comfort and so far so good for all the keywords I’ve found.

2. X-Site Pro2

It’s probably my most expensive blog tool I have bought in my Internet Home Business journey (purchased it at almost $200) and to be honest I did think it was expensive at first. But the ease in which it helps me create these static websites justified whatever reservations I had at first. There are different opinions about whether using a WP blog or static website is better for adsense sites. Well after 5 months of using X-Site Pro2 the results I achieved does convince me I made the right decision. Since it is a tool that I’ll be using for a long time, I’m sure I’ll be getting my money’s worth.

3. Big Mike’s RSSBot

This is my latest tool I purchased and like all previous tools acquired a great deal of my time was spent on checking this tool out from people who have bought and used it. The verdict – I think the price of less than $30 is definitely undervalued and over delivered. BTW I’m not promoting this product because the only affiliate program Big Mike has requires people to pay $19 a month to be entitled to promote his series of softwares like this. Well that alone tells a lot about the quality of his tools. If you need to check it up, just Google it.

A little bit more about this product. RSSBots automates your feeds submissions to about 30 online feed aggregators. So just imagine taking just 2 minutes to submit to 30 of these feed aggregators even for sites that require login or a captcha. It even allows you to put your keywords and anchor text during the submission process. Recently while revisiting some of my older posts in my home business blog to do some tests on my Google Adsense placements, I came across my post titled: “If I Could Start My Blog All Over….” where I asked 4 of my blogging friends to give their thoughts on how different their blogs might be if they were starting all over again.

Well all of them said they would still have their blogs but with big differences in how they were to be built and promoted impacting domains, backlinks, blog marketing, blog theme among others. These are valid suggestions or improvements on their blogs which now begs the question : “How important do you value your blog?”. Would you have the courage or audacity to give up your blog now? Or would you have not started with a blog at all if you had to start your Internet Home Business all over again?

Well my good friend Tom Lindstrom from The Home Business Archive says “Marketing without a website can be done by building a list of subscribers and broadcasting messages to that list.” All that is needed, he says, is a monthly investment for a reliable autoresponder which costs about $20. That is relatively low maintenance although this expense could be about twice you would have paid hostgator every month to maintain your hosting account. But not having to update your blog frequently should make up more than the 10 bucks you got to dish out.

Going without a blog or a website is a serious decision to make and presumably you know what you’re doing if you’re seriously contemplating just that. Starting an autoresponder is not the only serious work you have to immerse yourself with. In Tom’s post, he advocates having a “system” to follow before you can start to run your home business. His system focuses on :

establishing yourself as an expert on whatever affiliate products you intend to market. My thoughts on this: Well some statistics I’ve come across put the affiliate marketing industry failure rate as 95% so obviously you have to strive to be in the 5% category of successful affiliate marketers.
using article marketing and promote extensively your affiliate products using both your article “resource box” and your autoresponder. Well that is something new for the average blogger and it’s for better usage than most of us could ever imagined.

My Final Thoughts

Personally, I would prefer having a blog and website than without one. The look and feel of a blog has changed over the years and somehow I get the feeling that people are more comfortable “talking” to someone on his blog than through his autoresponder. Nevertheless I know that the autoresponder plays a significant role in most successful marketers’ rise to fame and fortune.

A blog plays a big part in introducing who you are as an Internet Marketer through this communication channel. I have also yet to read many success stories of marketers who became exceedingly successful without a website or a blog. But of course it could be this ignorant me or the lazy part of me preferring not the road less traveled.

How To Get Fast Google Indexing of Profile Backlinks

I guess by now you would have heard so much excitement about how many internet marketers are using high PR profile pages to attain high search engine rankings. If you have not, then check out a previous post of mine titled “Taking Backlink Building To a Higher Level” to get you up to speed.

What are High PR Profile pages

Essentially these are high authority websites with a page rank of PR6-Pr9 and allow anyone free membership that comes with the usual profile page set up. The profile page is where you add a few do-follow backlinks pointing to your website. There are perhaps thousands of these websites but Angela, and probably many other copy-cats search for good ones to offer to their affiliates who joined their programs. I don’t know about others but Angela makes hers so affordable at $5 a month membership it seems a no-brainer to join, and saving me the trouble to look for these links.

You know learning the techniques of getting high backlinks has been a hot topic for everyone but Angela Edward pioneered this simple concept herself before sharing with others in her now famous WSO (Warrior Special Offer) called ‘Angela Edward’s Backlink Building Program. That program is so well known and successful new marketers who joined it give it due respect and don’t question if it works; but rather how they can use the program to leverage on their other link building activities. Yeah it’s quite phenomenal.

While there is no doubt of the value of these high PR backlinks getting you the boost in your search engine ranking, you have to acknowledge that it does take some time for Google to index the profile pages containing your backlinks. By virtue of these sites having such great authority and page rank, Angela’s link packets have thousands of web pages on them. I figure Google spider with all its sophistication does take some time to go through these pages and noticing your backlinks. People are now getting anxious to find out more ingenious ways on how to get them indexed quickly.

I have been focusing a bit more attention in getting my Angela’s backlink program profile pages indexed by Google as well. I am using Slingshot method by Mark Dickenson to do this and the following free methods as well:

Pinging your profile page – Individual pages

I think most people are familiar with pinging their blog or static website each time they have added new content on it. It seems to be a standard practice and even your wordpress blog now comes with an auto pinging feature whenever you have published a new post.

Do you know that you can also ping your profile page or RSS to expedite Google indexing this page and thereafter your backlinks too? Here are just 2 sites that I use to do this – pingler and pingmyblog. If you are not using wordpress blog and using a static html website instead, no worries, just simply use this html-RSS site to create your static RSS in 2 minutes.

Pinging your profile pages – Group links

This is like the mother of all feeds and allows you to create a page full of your profile or feeds that you can then send to the usual directories. To make feed / RSS you can use IceRocket Free RSS Builder. Simply sign up to create your RSS Channel. When you’ve got this channel then click “Add Entry” and fill in the required information in “Entry Title”, “Entry Link” and “Entry Summary”. Do this for all your (Angela’s) profile pages or any other pages that you like. Finally click XML to see your new feed/RSS that you have created. Here is an example of my profile page feed I specially created for this post. Then once you’ve got your RSS feed just submit it to your favorite RSS directories.

My Final Thoughts

There is really no fix time when Google will count your backlink and even if it did may never show it to you. Such is the sheer dominance Google has over us insignificant bloggers Sometimes your links show up on your backlink checker tool within a week especially forum links but these backlink check tools don’t often show you everything because of one good reason – they rely on the little data fed from all the search engines including Google. So if you are using these tools, do take them with a grain of salt.

The more important thing is to try to get your profile pages indexed by Google. Then let nature takes its course and you’ll get your backlinks sooner or later even if you don’t see them in your backlink checker.

Millions of blogs make up the blog-o-sphere. Millions of blogs also lie dormant with the latest post created over a year ago. I’ve researched the personality types predominantly attracted to blogging. As a creative extrovert, I have the most trouble following through. Either someone is trying to sell me on joining their next business or I have trouble shutting off the endless stream of creative ideas in my head. Introverts have an easier time following through on writing because they are energized by thoughts inside their mind. I’ve been inspired to write some of the most interesting content by conversing with intellectual introverts.

When trying something new, its easy to become discouraged because you don’t know what really works. Your blog friends are the greatest antidote to discouragement. This will give you the patience and follow through to carry out building your blog. Try searching some of the social blogging networks like MyBlogLog.com and BlogCatalogue.com These are great sites to find friends who will become commentators on your blog.

Better A Peanut Gallery Than Empty Shells

A blog without comments looks like a wild west ghost town. Where did everyone go? Did commentators loose control and shoot each other? Or did you even get to that point with your blog? I’ve noticed two kinds of blogs in regards to comments. The first blog has a handful of loyal participants that comment on a frequent basis who seem to know each other. The second blog has massive amounts of content in a specific niche where random commentators come and go.

Which strategy do you want to use? A small loyal group of commentators works better for very specific niches where there might not be an overwhelming amount of traffic. Loyal friends also heckle each other without loosing motivation to return. It also works great for blogs written with a personal style. If you want to cultivate a handful of frequent loyal commentators, then try these methods. Try running contests where the top participants win prizes like links, guest posts and banner ads. User authentication in your comment system will weed out junk comments and serve as a barrier to low quality self promoters.

More open commenting systems compliment multi blogger platforms and niche aggregates where different topics are discussed. Higher volumes of comments will keep your blog updated if your comment system is readable by the search engines. This will help you in more competitive niches. Allow anonymous comments to make participation easier for new visitors. Expect to spend some time approving comments and filtering out spam. A competitive niche is conquered by blogs that keep their content fresh.

Don’t Blog Just For The Money

I’ve made more money in smaller niches because of passion. You can build a viable blog in small traffic niches or large niches. Size only matters when you have passion. Quality trumps quantity. If you don’t wake up in the morning excited to see who commented on your blog, you are in the wrong niche. I actually had an elderly lady present me with a supernatural experience when she told me to x-nay the greed in my heart. I was in the wrong niche. Blogging is about serving people, not giving them cheap experiences. When you come across as a person in service you become approachable. That attitude invites comments. So remember, plug yourself in with other passionate bloggers and give your audience a reason to comment.
