However have you ever wondered if the backlinking methods you have been using for years – have they really produced the desired results or were they achieved as fast as other Internet Marketers did? Are there smarter ways to get not just any backlinks but higher PR backlinks for lesser time than you are spending now?

Well to cut the story short, I did ask all these valid questions sometime in June last year when I was preparing for my one-day “Adsense Workshop” I had to give to a small group of young  aspiring Internet Marketers (see below image).

Now the reason how I got into that (in June) was because as the workshop was named by yours truly as “Secret Workshop”, I had to teach them new things that were never found in books, websites or other IM tutorials. So I bought almost all the weekly Warrior Special Offers that successful marketers were selling almost every other day in Warrior Forum. Mostly ebooks that revealed their “secrets” and I have to say many were just that. Really awesome!  I have to say I learned a lot especially those related to SEO – never mind that it was information overload for me.

One of the new things I picked up was a better way to get my Forum profile backlinks.

The old conventional way:

When you create (or pay someone to create) all the thousands of forum backlinks, these links are on pages of PR N/A mostly but on sites with high PR domains. Now there are many people (including Angela Edwards) who will swear that it doesn’t matter so long as the domain has high PR. I honestly believed so too years ago and in fact was promoting Angela Edwards Backlink Program until recently when I stopped after I found my new method. Let’s just say it’s not that it didn’t work but the results were slower and less effective in pushing SERPS up quickly – compared to the newer method which I’ll describe.

My Preferred Mew Method:

In this new method I still used Forums to get my backlinks but instead of placing my links on PR N/A pages (on high PR domains), I put my links on PR 3, PR 4, PR5 pages in high PR forums memberlist pages. You see many of these websites are long established and their members list pages have high PR as well.  Now can you see how much better your backlinks will be when they get indexed and pointing to your money sites?

However the truth is it takes a long time to search for these forum websites that have high PR forum member list. But I did it slowly over a few months doing a few sites a day and finally now have a long list that I used for my backlinking. I just make it a daily chore to create a few backlinks on these high PR pages. Anyway it just takes a couple of minutes to do one since I have a ready list of these member list sites. It’s ‘Register’ -> retrieve email – > activate link -> edit profile -> put your url on the homepage. And you’ve got yourself a PR 4 or PR 5 anytime you do this.

Now if you are still unclear how this all works out, then take a look at the image shown below:

What Can You Do Next: I encourage you to spend some time looking for these Forum Websites and search for dofollow, high PR members list pages. But do take note that many of these sites do not show the homepage so you must ignore these as they will be useless for your link building purpose. I took a long time to get this list but it is really a worthwhile effort.

Well I have good reasons because I am seeing so many articles written about Google Panda Updates that you really cannot ignore the importance. Nor the huge impact it is causing all of us now and our online business opportunities and in the near future. My Thoughts: I think most of us have been over focusing on exact keywords anchor text, exact domain match probably a little too much. My Thoughts: Google has been saying this for a very long time even before the days of Google Panda Updates came about. Build sites with unique content and sites that people who land on them actually enjoy reading what they have to say. Well I suspect Google is going to get even tougher with webmasters who continued to build thin sites including affiliate marketing sites. The online world can present an attractive arena to many would be entrepreneurs, especially with tales of generating a fast and passive income stream with little effort, but a true Internet sensation can take a great deal longer to develop.

Passive income ideas can flow thick and fast when you’re kicking back in your dressing gown with a glass of wine or chatting to a friend, but putting those passive income ideas into practice can take a little more effort than that in order to build a successful and lasting business.

How can I turn my passive income ideas into a reality?

So you’ve had the perfect passive income ideas, it’s sure to generate a steady stream of income that will see you through into retirement, or so you think. Not so fast. The Internet is packed to the rafters with websites offering services and goods in all shapes and sizes. Anyone can buy a domain name or start trading with relatively little hassle, so why aren’t we all millionaires already?

Not every business idea is destined for success but there are a few simple considerations the budding entrepreneur can take into account in order to give their online business the best possible start in a cut-throat world.

1) Preparation and research. These are two of the key foundations of entrepreneurial success. Ask yourself: Is there a market for my idea? Who are my target audience? What competition do I face, and how can I distinguish myself from them? Targeting your product and finding a gap in the market may significantly improve your chances of success.

2) Decide on what type of business best suits the product or service you are looking to sell. Will you be operating as a sole trader? As a limited company? Whatever type of business you decide to set up, and whatever the purpose, there are likely to be tax obligations that you will need to fulfill in order to keep it legitimate. Do some research into how tax obligations may affect you.

3) Sort your finances. How will you fund your start-up costs? Will you use your own capital, or take out a bank loans? There may be a number of funding streams available for a first timer. However, if you are borrowing money you will need to be very careful that you don’t fall into unmanageable debt. You may want to seek professional financial advice.

4) Make a business plan. Perhaps the most important step in turning your idea into something more concrete. Use the points above generate a business plan that will help you focus on your key aims. Outline you audience, you marketing and your financial plan. While this may not sound very glamorous, putting your ideas down on paper can help you take a realistic view of you business idea, spot the flaws and give a boost to your confidence when you start meeting targets. Taking the time and effort now to make a full practical and financial plan could save you a lot of money in the long run. You will need to have a business plan prepared if you decide to seek funding, a bank or similar loan to help with start-up costs.

Brainstorming passive income ideas is an important but relatively small part of turning those creating a fully fledged business. You might come up with a great passive income idea and manage to turn it into a reality without the help of a business plan, but you chances of success may be reduced, and at some point you will need to think about the financial and strategical future of your company.

Take some time to think about your goals, and how you would like you business to grow. Think big, but don’t be afraid to start small with the finer points of designing and planning you business.

What is Google Panda Update

Well Google makes more than 300 algorithm changes every year and I guess it is their way of ensuring that their Google Search Engine remains  clean, respected but more importantly viewed by searchers as the best search engine in the world. Yup and while at it, continues to dominate about 65 percent market share of all search engines.

The Google Panda name happens to be coined by those Google Engineers who were involved in the original update. Well perhaps not so original as who knows it may have come hitherto from a few smaller updates in other years. What Google chooses to call their algorithm change is not important. What is more important is to try to understand just what these changes are (and they don’t seem to stop as there are many updates from 2.3 to now 2.5) and why Google had to make them.  It also reinforces my own philosophy – always  give to Google what Google wants and you’ll be alright.

1. Article Directories

Article directories are the worst hit by this Google Panda update. In fact I saw this coming for a long time because too many people in the past were trying to get tons of free backlinks from these free article directories. And who could blame them? It was that easy because they were submitting duplicate articles and although they knew these duplicate articles were not getting ranked, they nevertheless enjoyed the free backlinks. Also Google probably did not appreciate the average article directory which did not maintain a high standard of publication.

How It Affected me? None. Because I knew about link diversity that Google uses to rank websites so I stopped many of these submissions if I knew I already had gotten too many backlinks from a particular article directory like Ezinearticle dot com to one domain. 2. One Page Websites

Gone are the days when you can simply whip up a 1-page website, and start monetizing it with adsense, affiliate marketing offers and make lots of money.  Now I really do not know how Google targets such websites because I know for a fact that some of these 1-page sites like lead capture pages or landing pages fall into this category and yet they remained untouched.

How It Affected me?: None, because all my sites have at least 10 pages of unique content, excluding the default pages of course like about, privacy, contact etc. Perhaps one of the clearest indication that Google means business comes from a good friend of mine, Yan who has this to say:

“…….. for all the newbies who are just starting out – who dream of making money on the internet, my honest advise is this, “don’t build small websites”. The days of “thin affiliate sites” and “push-button-get-rich-quick” methods are over. Anyone saying otherwise isn’t telling the truth” – Yan Susanto

There are just too many articles written about all the Google Panda updates and you can simply Google it and read to understand more about it. But I  like to summarize a few salient points that I felt worth repeating:

1.  Google targeted websites with poor quality or spammy content and sprinkled with lots of ads. This update affected a whopping 12% of searches. I guess the intent is that Google prefers you to write more for your visitors and not specifically the search engines.(February, 2011: Panda Cracks Down on Content Farms)
